Berserk - It's over and Done with

I have finnaly finished all 6 DVD's of Berserk and I must say I am entirely pissed off.

No, not at the show..Perish the thought. I'm Pissed that there isn't any more! For the love of Bob and his pet monkey this was like the epitomy of Anime goodness.

The only ONLY problem I had was that it went into cliffhanger anime. IE it ended before it ended and discussing how it ended would end your desires to see the ending.

But if you were to rate Berserk on an Anime scale I'd say take Saber Marionnette J (The first season and ONLY the first season) and take how it's the pinnacle of romance cutsey anime, then take Ranma 1/2 (Any season pretty much) and how it's a Romantic Comedy, and Berserk would be the Violent Romantic epitomy.

There's blood, Guts (hehehe), and Chunks of ass galore in this here series but there's also one of them plot things that is like WAY in depth.

It should be known the Berserk Manga Novel gets released this October and the series is still being written which is why The Box of War ended prematurely.

Anywho, I'd recommend Berserk to anyone with a strong will (There are some VERY gruesome scenes) and an attention span. Also you may wanna be over 16.

I'm just starting to watch the series now... been renting them from Blockbuster. But I'm current with the *ahem* unofficial translated manga which is at vol 25. New volumes get released (on average) every 8 months, I'm told.

Now, I haven't watched the entire series yet, but it ends with the Eclipse, right?

Oh Jesus, man... that would be a cliffhanger ending. The Eclipse happens before vol 10 in the manga. Considering that they're on 25... there's a lot left unaccounted for.

I played the game a long time ago and thought it was pretty cool. Just recently I started reading the manga and fell in love with it. It's really very good, which is surprising... what with all the sex n blood n guts n stuff.

If you haven't, check out the manga to see what it's like. The age old "I liked the book better" holds true for me with this title. There are some additional things that are covered in-depth in the manga that are forgotten or just implied in the anime.

The anime in of itself isn't the greatest... at least, the production value isn't. There's a lot of cheap still shots and pans. Seems like they forgot to animate every once in a while. But it does a pretty good job detailing the major scenes and actually sticks to the storyline pretty faithfully.

Got a juicy rumor for you too...

Anime Works (who distributed the series in the states here) is *supposedly* going to front half the cost for another season (25 episodes) of the anime to be produced in Japan. In turn, they get exclusive rights to distribute it here. Fair deal.

I hope it happens.... because shit REALLY gets good after the eclipse.

Anime is blah. Read the manga. They're abso-freaking-awesome. Zealous religious figure, torture, angry mobs, underground sex cults, hardcore swrod fights and thats just the tip of the iceburg.
