PO's a year old! - Has it been a year already?

That's right, Sunday Sept 14th 2003 is the official one year anniversary of PocketOtaku.com's birth. Although the idea sprung up in Doot's little noggin a few weeks before that. It was on that day that the first line of code was written. After a week or so of Doot and Shino putting their heads together to get ideas for it.

Since then we have changed a lot. And grown even more. It's amazing that after only a year, we are already up to 200 members (well 199 but I hope we will be to 200 by Sunday).

And it's all of you that has made this happened. I wanted to send out this thank you to all of you that have stuck by us since the beginning.

Of course, the first person I would like to thank is the Dootster herself. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this. Bawl

Our little one is all grown up now.

Chibi Knight and Sciler, You guys were the greatest of help to us in the beginning and we couldn't have done it without you!

All of our founding members. You know who you are. All those that began in Sept Oct of 2002, and are still around to see what we have grown into. You guys are awesome and all of the PO staff marvel of how awesome it has to have a group such as you guys on with us.

And of course all of our new staff members that are making things so much easier on us.
AzVegeta and BWS-1, who are kicking butt and taking names as our newest mods. Not to mention Az's previous work as a staff member with scripts for our comics.
Saleb Duvat... I don't even know where to begin, she has kept us up to date and organized and to say what she does is important, would be the underest of understatments.
PRG, Gryph, Bumblebee. Our 3 artists that work along side The Dootster and the CKman. I can't even fathom what you guys do, but I'm glad you are so good at it.
Rev and Sperrit, who were our first outside Mod helpers, and although Sperrit may or may not be gone from PO, it is important that everyone know how much he helped us out!
Musashi who Joined the MODsters later on.
Tiroka and Philo, These are recent additions to the staff. They haven't had the chance really to get their hands dirty, but Tiroka has helped me several times in the past and both of them will have a huge hand in the site as the future comes upon us.
Cobbi and Breezblok, who are working on a little project along with Gryph that is still to come.
Razer, Ming, Tobias, General Mythral (aka Lews), who are also working on a little project we have going on behind the scenes.

I think I got everyone. If I missed you, please let me know by PM and I will be sure to apologize whole heartedly and add you in. : Wink

This is just the beginning. I hope one day PocketOtaku becomes a house hold name, and I will be happy to say... see these people... they were hear since the beginning. And that would be all of you. You make me so happy I'm going to do my dance...

Can't beleive a year has passed! I think back and still see PO in its early stage, I remember falling on a ''the page you are trying to access www.pocketotaku.com is not available'' ... or something like that ^^. I remember Doot's PM on voodoomoose telling me it was finally up! Hell I even remember the ol Pocket Otaku fanfic that was on voodoomoose that, I think, started it all. I have more happy memories about PO then on any other message boards, not that I don't have any on the others, I'll never forget PSOW, or voodoomoose, in fact, I still pay them a visit every once and a while and I like it there! But PO has definitly a specialer place in my heart ^^, I call it home!

Thanx BWS, and you know what, it's people like you that make me happy to keep working on this site. To know that there are people out there that really enjoy coming to the site and like what we have put together for them. To say this site has been a labor of love for all of us here at PO would be yet another understatment. But comments like these are why we do it!

My goodness it has been some kind of crazy year! And I look back on all of it and am so happy to have met so many wonderful people who all believe in Pocket Otaku. Can you believe it all started from a sketch I made for Sciler that I turned into a “fighting game” storyline? Not soon after Sakura was begging me for one and I followed suit and made myself one. We started this all within a thread on the VM message board. We started small and then it started catching on and it wasn’t until the mass flooding of that thread kept tweaking the board that we realized, “We’re gonna need a bigger boat.”

It was then that we created our own corner in cyberspace and it couldn’t have happened without the help of many of our original Otakus who were a driving force behind the staff to keep up with the hard work. The folks remember what it was like just being one thread, and have maintained their supportive presence to this day with a significant contribution to PO.

Sciler – I could never thank you enough for providing such an inspiration to me and allowing me to steer your character into new depths (with the much skilled hand of Chibi Knight). You’ve been an undying support and your excitement towards PO has never wavered. You truly are the Muse of Pocket Otaku.

Sakura – You are my inspiration and my guidance. You embody every amount of energy it takes to create and maintain a world where we can all interact and channel ourselves through our mini-fighters. Thank you for letting us pose you during PO night so that we can get action stances drawn out and for always being the pick-me-up we all need with your attitude after long hours of working.

Saitoh – We can never forget the first person that figured out the “code” to getting their otaku. With that started the onslaught of requests and the idea that “this could really be something.” Thank you for always checking in on us when you can. (I know how hectic running a board can be.)

CK – You’ve been there since the beginning. At first you watched as I frantically sketched new otakus and then one day you started sketching them too. Your support has been fantastic, and even though you stepped down from the limelight of the board, you always provided undying support to Pocket Otaku and it’s art. It has been a wonderful experience learning along with you and creating kick ass chibis.

Shino – Man, you don’t realize that without you, the site would not be up and running. I never once expected you to take on the enthusiasm you have and for that I am eternally grateful. Your love for “our baby” is so intense there is nowhere to go but succeeding.

Shurikane, Senkir, Lews, Azurel, Gryph, Aindriahhn, Metal Man, BWS-1. You guys came from VM powering up in the beginnings of our new home, cultivating it with your stories and being an incredible source of talent, imagination, fuel behind Pocket Otaku. Your word of mouth gained us many more members who have woven a captivating tale of Miniopia and it’s history. We merely built the veins; you are the foundation blood that pumps through it.

When we finally established our home here our members wished to bring more friends into our world and we could never be thankful enough for that. It was then we were able to meet some of the most influential people on Pocket Otaku. They all proved as milestone members who have definitely left their PO footprint in Miniopia.

Cobbi – Your work has been amazing. I can’t fathom how much talent runs in your cat-like body but I assure you it will take you to great heights. Plus, without you we would have never met Sperrit.

Sperrit – There is no doubt your contribution has been a fantastic one. Never once gone unnoticed, the harbinger of Post Fu, one half of a dynamic duo, and one of the original folks I trusted the helm of our board to by making you a mod. Thank you for the time you have been able to devote to Pocket Otaku, it has a lasting impression.

Reverend – Another one of our honored Disciples of Mod. The Holy Man of Pocket Otaku, managed to lasso all four of his Flop Jocks brethren to come to PO. Your stories fascinate me and your pairing with Sperrit I am certain will go down in the history books of PO.

Our staff has indeed grown as the site has grown and sometimes it’s hard to delegate out duties to other people. But I am thankful for the people who have helped with these things and appreciate them immensely. I have seen more talent within these walls than I can even wrap my mind around.

Saleb - I don't know what I'd do without you. My brain would literally explode if I had to keep up with half of the things you do. You have been such a superb addition to the PO staff in managing our calendar and our registrations. Any con experience without you would certainly be a disaster. I lovingly refer to you as the "Bulldog" of PO for you are the big guns I send in to get the job done. Thank you immensely for such dedication.

Gryph – you ARE the sprite master. You have a keen eye on the detail and make fantastic reproductions of our P Os in sprite form.

PRG – It scares me how you can replicate my style. You’ve always had an eye for the dynamic and without you there would be no twists or bends or flying sheep. Thank you for helping when I was barely treading water.

Bumblebee – You astound me. You honestly do. And I feel honored to have talent of your caliber on my staff. If I could do it again, I’d ask for at least half your abilities.

Tiroka and Philo – Thank you utmost for your patience. We will soon have projects for you to do. I swear!

All the guys working on our big projects - You are fantastic. You all believe in new angles for PO so much that you are the powerhouse on the projects alotted to you. Never failing to go full steam ahead. I am truly excited for what is to come.

To our newer Mods – Musashi, AzVegeta, BWS – There is a reason you are chosen. It represents the trust and dedication we can only expect from you since you have provided such even on a regular basis with Pocket Otaku. You manage your posts with pride and an unbiased hand and that is what is needed most in these situations. Through your reliability I have no doubt in any and all decisions you make with the board.

And finally – I’d like to thank all of the members out there. This is YOUR site. It’s with great pride that we are able to maintain such a place for each of you that you feel worthy of returning to day in and out. We’ve made many friends through you and can only hope that with the same love you have for the site you will also embrace new members and prove such wonderful examples of Pocket Otakuhood.

And remember, Join the Fun and always Rock the Chibi.
