FFXI Questions

I've heard alot about this. I want it bad, but I have some questions

I have Phantasy Star Online and am wondering if it's anything like this?
Also, what is the monthly cost for online FFXI? And if I get it, would you be able to set up times to meet with users you know?

1) No it's really nothing like PSO. PSO you pretty much have control of battles and stuff. In this one, you get in a battle and it's turned based. And if you have to run, sometimes it's really tough to get away. Also, as opposed to playing with 4 people i an area, you are stuck having to play with everyone. The good and the bad.

2) I think it's $14.99/month I can't remember.

3) I'm sure you would be able to hook up with people on here. I am canceling my account b/c I got a little fed up with some of the people that are on Ragnarok (none of the PO people) b/c they were selfish and didn't want to help out. I haven't played it in a month or so and I keep wanting to go back to it, but I never do. It's unfortunate b/c it really is a good game, but I just don't have the desire to play it anymore. However there are many other POs that will play it with you.

The problem is that you want to play solo until you get to about level 10 and then you need to party with people around your level to gain good exp. So that's the challenge, finding POs that are the same lvl as you, on at the same time, on the same server and in the same country on that server.

A lot of times you can just party with random folk that are looking for people. If you want to always have a party to go to, start out as a White Mage. If you want to be in the majority population, start out as a warrior. White Mages are in short supply and there are ALWAYS parties looking for one.

Maybe someday I will go back to it. Who knows.

As for being like Phantasy star....not really at all. THis game is far more open than that one ever could be. You arent anywhere near as limited with pretty much anything. I played PSO fora LONG time and it was a ton of fun at the time. DO I see myself going back and playing it after playing FFXI? No way lol.

The monthly cost is $12.95 I believe for the main account which gets you one character. If you add any additional characters to that main account, its $1 extra for each one.

As for people being on....there are almost always people on. I myself tend to be on everynight after 10 until 2 AM. If I opened that day Ill be on as soon as 6 or 7. But you tend to meet so many cool people when playing, your friend list will grow in no time.

that's where Sci and I differ... I would go back to PSO in a heart beat. (if they upgraded it on the next version that is.

They are both fun games and there is really no comparing them.

Now I want a PS2 and an XBox !!! Champs of Norrath looks awesome and the new Star Wars Battlefront and Republic Commando will rule !!! me need money !!!
