I started this topic from "Whats your favorite game series" since I was getting pretty off topic.
Flying on AC3, or Silent Line is OP-I unesseary. In fact, since they replaced the Pluses with OP-Int that jacks up all your slots, I hardly even use it unless im in a less moblie heavy mech that needs moblity coupled with a wide damage spread. You can make up most of the performeance boosters you really need with the right amount of expansion bays, so unless your using that 8 slot muscle core, you can pretty much keep your performance up to par.
OP-I's real allure is the mobililty it adds to bi-pedals for their weight capabilities. The energy effecencity it adds is defiantly a big bonus, though, along with the other little add ons you can earn for it. It makes designing energy based weapon mechs a lot more practical and saves you money on missions. Problem is its so late in the game, you hardly even need money any more except to buy out the store if you hadn't already.
*sigh*. Yo, Anna, if you goign to be at AWA, maybe I can bring my memory card and we can get our AC on, ne? |

But how long can you fly? If you have a core that can stay in the air long it's probably not moving very fast. If it's fast in the air it's not likely to stay their long. I prefer lightweight speed cores under 4200 kilos. Dodging missiles is a sinch, but you have to watch your energy. Also, keeping it under weight means less weapons....but more humiliation when you squash your opponent using a pistol and a lefty howitzer.
Oh...I'm probably not going to AWA...I don't suppose you'll be at ACen.... |

I prefer 3. Missiles don't bank as hard and you can remove the Human Plus bonuses. As for the sawa, as long as your fast.... |

I use hover legs for the most part, they are more mobile IMO. The only thing I dont like about them is that I cant choose my own boosters. I use light EO core and, most of the time, I will pack a single machine gun, a moonlight and 2 ammo packs. But Dai likes the snipers' and the chain gun if i remember correctly. We will get together and iLink our PS2's and go head to head. One time I loaded my hover AC and faught him on the Oil rig stage (cant remember if it was on Silent line or not) and he could hover with his AC forever..... I mean he might has well have been using "flying" legs. And the worst part about it is, it really hasn't got a whole lot to do with energy efeciency.... he just knows how to fly. I went into it thinking I could just sit on the water and pot shot at him, but imagine my suprise when he came swooping down, raining firey death. |

Boo yah! Firey Death Cannon +1
...or not. Ive been playing the AC series since back when it was just AC and there was never any hope of a sequal. Im happy to see the series come as far and advance as much as it has. Although the newer AC games are great, (I perfer AC3 to 2, but only for minor technicalities), my heart will always be with MoA.
As for flight time, on MoA I can fly indefinatly. On AC 3 if I dont watch my inertia, I have to stop every few minutes. The trick is to be rough with the boosters. While the powerful boosters give you more boom off the ground, the ones with lower power (12,300 I think...) have a higher effeciency than even the ones the game claims to have highest effencieny. Coupled with a high energy output and a mostly analog weapon selection, your energy bar will regen faster than it falls because of the low boost drain, and you can use your inerita to keep airbourne. Its a game of booster taping, and I almost never hold down my booters. It sounds really complicated, but your fingers get a feel for the core after a while and you can do it second nature.
Anywho, sorry I wont be able to challenge youat AWA, but maybe Tobs will bring some fun to the table |

Armored Core Nexus came out yesterday. I played a little bit of the new story, and I'm kinda dissapointed. The missions are either uber hard or uber easy. Also the Arena isn't available to compete in all the time. Every now and then you get an arena fight, and again they are either too hard or too easy. |

aww...but i LOVED ARENA BATTLES!!!!
As far as flying, im like Dai, what with tapping the boost button to keep myself airborne...it really does add an edge to your fighting.
Also, if you DO wanna stay airborne, try to use weapons like machine guns or nade-launchers, which dont expend energy...things like the Karasawa will kick ur ass in the middle of a flight by draining your energy.
oh...and the oilrig is part of AC2 (that one was for you faye!)
