While the days of our father's fathers yeilded only to pen to tell the great stories, today's materpeices are also seen in streaming 60fps with replay value and a company logo. The classics will always have thier place in literature, but a new form of media, the video game, is bringing together teams of the most talented artists, animators, sound engineers, and arthors of our time. While I have read books that have stirred my emotions, I wept openly at the sight of Aries, sinking, or the fear/courage I felt battling Lavos for the first time...who is better, which will reign supreme!?! Choose your side now, the Pixel or the Pen!

Aeris (stop invoking the god of war, okay?) speaks well for those who make movies as their trade - and that, to some degree, is what video games are these days... interactive cinema. Whereas our forefathers used their imaginations in bringing things to life, we're used to seeing someone's interpretation played out before us and judging it for it's own worth. When done properly, this can be wonderful.

When done poorly, it can be a nightmare. Sometimes it really is better to read the book.

That being said, both mediums can utilize their respective strengths to tell an excellent story. And so long as the story is well told, the medium is immaterial. So I choose not to choose.

Pen. All the way. Games got nothing on books as far as I'm concerned. With a book you've got pure story, a game get's bogged down in (obviously) gameplay! That isn't to say that I don't like video games or respect them or the people who make them. They are excellent entertainment. But if we're talking about pure story, here, then the pen shall always rule.

I agree with Sperrit. I love games but there is much more freedom in the story by pen. I LOVE writing stories but if I were to convert any to game form I'm sure I'd have to sacrifice some of the story which I don't think I could bear.

I'm with Silver. All the way.

I think that Beyond Good and Evil is every bit as good as, say, Ender's Game.

I honestly can't make a decision on this one.

I absolutely melt when when I see good graphics in a game, movie, or tv. And I get involved in the story of the game because they drill fairly cliche and easy to remember info into your head.

Then again, writing is God. Unlike videogames, they don't just let anything pass off as a book. I mean, they go through revisions until a book is up to par with a standard and ready to publish. However, if a game has payed it's bills, it can be put onto a console nomatter how shitty it is. I also love to write.

Easy!

Games.

RPG are my books.
I still read on occasion (Right now reading LOTR) but there is something about actually seeing the story play out, as opposed to just see it in your mind.

All games start out as Pen and Paper thoughts so in essence Pen wins because Pixels can't exist without them.
