I can't believe I was the first to post this...
Well several of us went to go see it on opening night.
PRG is a big Harry Potter fan. This one was the first I have ever seen so I honestly didn't know what to expect. I was never to anxious to see any of them, but the group wanted to go, and I'm a team player. So I was in.
You know for what is supposed to be a kids movie... the special effects in this movie were pretty freaking incredible.
The story was.... interesting.
And I thought most of the characters were pretty well developed.
I don't have really anything bad to say about it. But it doesn't peak my interest.
Skibirdi said that I need to see the first two movies first before making the decision that I'm not really interested.
What do you guys think?
PRG seemed to really love the movie and Toolman said he is going to see it again in the theater... but I think that was mainly b/c there was some kid behind him that wouldn't STFU! (If you need an explination of that one, let me know.) And the parents of this kid didn't even do anything. He dressed up as Harry Potter... he was like 5.
The first movie (at least I think it's the first... Chamber of secrets?) is on Cinimax this month. Should I take the time to watch it? |

If you haven't read the books yet Shino, you really ought to because this is where the story arc kicks into overdrive. And while I liked the movie a lot, I wish they could have explained a little bit more about some of the finer points that bear a lot on what happens in the later books.
Beyond that, it was a well thought out and faithful adaptation of the book, and I am really sad that Alfonso Cuaron will not be in charge of the next movie. But, if Goblet of Fire, which has plenty of action in it, turns out good, I will not complain |

As far as I'm concerned the movies are more like... visual companions to the books. While not awesome entities in and of themselves, they give you a visual counterpart to the awesome stories that occur in the books. Reading the books before seeing the movies is a must in my opinion.
And the first movie/book was Sorcerer's Stone. Chamber of Secrets was 2.

On a tangent that happened to me once when I watching a movie. This little kid was running off his mouth during some movie.
I yelled something at him like "Shut up you attention starved brat!" needless to say his parents were embarassed when other people started joining in and they took him out of the theater. Part of me felt bad but the other half felt a lot better. |

No big. You really should look into reading them. Easy read, lots of fun and very well done. After all, there's a reason they're so danged popular.

I saw this movie this past weekend and i enjoyed it! It didn't seem as long as it was (around 2 1/2 hours) and i would definately recommend reading the books ^^ |
