Ok people Here's what I want you do do. List you favorite characters to play with and why, and then tell your style, if you know how to describe it.

I usually just pick someone at random, but my style is to roll. Constantly. I find it works with most people, but the best with Fox.

I also like to play Marth. When I play marth I jump around a lot and use his air attacks because you can string them together easily.

I also haven't met anyone who can beat me yet. :p

1. Link because he's a great all around character with powerful long and short range attacks as well as an above average jumping ability. I use his upward and downward sword strikes a lot.

2. Marth, if simply for the style this character has. Like Lews said, his moves can be linked together seemlessly and his charge attack is useful for keeping players who have been knocked off from being able to return. Heh, not to mention he just looks awesome w/ the cape and all, specially in the black armor.

3. Ness...one of the greatest characters from one of the greatest games of all time...Earthbound!! He'd be higher on the list, but he's been weakened a lot from his N64 counterpart. I like using his throws a lot (as I do w/ all characters) and, when mastered, his electric triple jump rocks.

4. Kirby...was god Kirby in the n64 version, but has since been diminished to a demi-god. I still find him fun to play with though for the variety of styles he offers.

Hmm. Well, and I don't mean to brag here, I use nearly every character in the game (except Kirby, Mewtwo, and Jigglypuff -- I know they're good, I just don't use them), and I have to say, it's pretty damn hard to choose a favourite. Here is my list of favourites, though.

Peach- This sister will own you, hard. She's fast, her smash moves are among the best in the game, and her floating ability means that, try as you might, you'll never keep this girl from getting back.

Yoshi- To think I used to not use the cute green dinosaur. His main weapon is his deceptively long range on all of his moves, not to mention that once you get good at chucking eggs you can bullseye anyone out of the air.

Ganondorf- For pure killing power, no one, and I mean NO ONE, beats the Hyrulian "wizard". Apparantly he and Gandalf used to hang out and teach each other wrestling moves while pumping iron.

Fox- Two words: Up A. Whether you're doing his lift kick, his up smash, or his double up kick in the air, if you hit someone with Fox's Up A attacks, they will die. Not to mention that this little bugger is so fast that no one will be able to hit you.

Ness- Deceptively powerful. His B moves are among the best stopping moves in the game, and his A moves are among the most powerful. His forward smash, his air Up A, and his air Back A can all KO an opponent with no trouble at all. His triple jump is tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, Ness can fly through the air with the greatest of ease with the best of them.

Ice Climbers- Jesus. They may be small, but do they pack a punch. Another character(s) with deceptively long range. They don't have a single bad move in their A move arsenal, although their B moves leave something to be desired.

Samus- Who can fire super missles? Samus can fire super missiles. Undoubtably the best long range character in the game, and some hardcore melee moves to back it up.

Zelda\Sheik- You can't hit Sheik. Let me repeat that: YOU CAN'T HIT SHEIK. This is usually because you will be in the air being juggled by her. Dash A, jump, Up A, the end. Oh, you're over 80%? I'll switch to Zelda. Side A in the air, you're dead.

Young Link- I like Young Link better than Link. While he's lighter and his moves are less powerful and have a shorter range, he's faster and many of his moves throw people in better directions. Also, his B moves are better.

Marth- You guys said it all. This bishounen has style, not to mention the longest melee range in the game. His A moves are fantastic, and his counterattack is just icing on the cake. So what if he's light as a feather?

The game itself is just awesome, too. I still haven't gotten bored with it. Up at college, we get together and play 4-player Smash Bros. for hours on end. And, just yesterday, I went and broke all 51 event records (I had to throw some bragging in there somewhere :P) There's never a shortage of things to do in that game if you're creative. Simply one of the best games ever, in my opinion. Really.

Lews, we have to match one day ;)

Here we go!

1. Ice Climbers: They'll knock you silly, and even if you get thrown back there's always another one to keep up the attack. Plus they're just so cute!

2. Falco: Speed and evasion are the key! He'll fly around you so fast you won't know what hit you.

3. Ganondorf: Power, raw strength. Sure, he's not all that fast, but if he get's his hands on you you're toast.

I play with either Young link or Kirby
My strategy is usally to jump in attack and flee. This tends to make for longer games but my theory is-if they have to chase you down they have a harder time preparing for a major attack.Very Happy

wow I just stumbled on this!

Ok I adore this game....

Always number one is Fox - he is so fast and so hard to catch...his great ability to change around in air and quick item picks up allows me to fight just like I want to.... I use him to attack quickly and once I hit once I stay stuck on the opponent, then once I boot someone, if they don't stay off, I throw items at the in mid air

2. Peach - great combo fighter if ya ask me....I love her assortment of weaponry, and of course her floating (vintage SM 2)

Thread necromancy at it's best.

I personally like using Samus. Easy to control and link together moves.

Excel: True dat, brudda. For me, Fox wins with potshots.

Oh, and I finally met a kid who could beat me not long ago, and it was an awesome fight. This is after being a full year out of practice, so I go into battle and just sort of jerk around, no real style, per se, just hitting when and where I can. Now, we started at twenty lives, and it didn't start to get hot until I hit life number one.

I hit life number one, and he was still at five, so I gave up, decided I would try to potshot him with Fox's aggrivating little laser as much as I could, because it was amusing.

Took him down four times straight before he finally killed me at 204% damage.

So from now on, if I want to win, that's what I'm gonna do with Fox. I tell you this: Potshots rule.

Anyone else got cool stories to tell?
