(if i messed the pole up then CRAP!)

Me? i choose Rping.. a game can only go so far and once you beat it you know what to expect when you replay it but in a RP the GM will keep you in the loop every time! Though sometimes you can't play without friends though..

A game actually has an ending. Most RP's get hung up and forgotten, although i like to try to have endings for mine.

For me, I would have to say RP. In a game you play a character that someone else created and follow a set story line that you have to follow. Granted a lot of RPGs have different endings and allow you to make choices throughout the game that allow you to get to different endings. However, in RP, every thing your character does is your decision. From which enemy to attack to whether or not they are allergic to Caffine. The way your character responds, your tone of voice, your physical prowess, or even birthmarks. You dont have just 3 or 4 sentences you can respond with, you have endless possibilities. And that is what makes Rping so much better than Video games.

The character Fayelenthareil that I will be Rping on this board is from an ongoing D&D game that we have been playing for 2 years now. She is a character that I am very passionate about and have enjoyed playing and I will continue to enjoy rping her if our DM (*peers at Daijaga*) will ever finish off the chapter we are on.

D&D huh? i have been playing Werewolf but im going to have my first RP in DnD. My DM is allowing me to have a demon that lives in my body.. I make a roll and if i fail my body changes a bit and he takes over yet i am still able to think and i get to play both characters. Think Azurel, i got my idea from hi PO.(Thanks Azurel!)

Video games. I throuly enjoy pen and paper RPGs, they are a fun and creative outlet for myself and a great bonding experience with my players as well as their characters. Fayellenthariel, Grallick Tur, and Sloan DeLoran pop in mind However as a DM, its a lot of work, takes a lot of time, and is mentally taxing during both planning and execution. Sceduals must me made up, sheets and data must be orderly, authority must be executed and a certain flavor kept to the game, and it must all be done in a single angonisingly long session because of how hard everyone's schedual is to maintain. D&D is rewarding work, video games are just lazy rewards ^_^.

The only reason Daijaga voted for video games is because none of the rest of us can manage to run a decent game. I have started 2 myself and never finished them, one was a BESM anime RPG based on the d20 system, and the other was a DnD type game based in the DragonLance world. I never managed to get passed the first session as a DM.

No one could live up to the standards that Daijaga set for us and we all appreciate him for the good times he has created for us.

Roleplaying, without question, as long as I could get roleplayers who would post consistently.

and a GM for that matter. I personally like RPs for their involvement and the fact that I don't have to keep my attention on them for more than 3 seconds at a time. In an RP, you control almost everything. In a game, not so much. I'm a controlling guy.

It all depends, assuming everything ELSE is equal (vidgame quality vs consistant RPers) then I'd take the RP. However getting a regular group together is pretty rare and online RPing (don't mean to take a stab at the forums here but...) just never works.

As it is now, I'd have to vote for vidgame RPGs even with their character development limitations. I say just don't play the ones you don't like (cough...Final Fantasy...cough) and stick to what you do.
