What is an FMV in gameing terms? I mean I know it's a movie but what does FMV stand for? |

I'm gonna go out on a limb, since I have no clue what it means either, and say "Fast Moving Video". I'm probably wrong though, and that's just a guess.

I think it's more like "Full Motion Video." |

You are correct sir.
FMV is used when a game either has something that was actually filmed, or a Computer generated video that does not use the engine of the game.
A video that uses the graphics engine that you actually have while playing the game is not FMV as they use the Real Time Graphics.

3DO here.
Yeah you heard me... 3DO
I never owned one, but I started working at a videogame store when 3DO was "rereleased" with the $400 price tag as opposed to the original $700. |

I feel like an old timer here. The Sega CD was the first to use FMV to sell games...unfortunately, FMV used to suck (see: Kriss Kross & Marky Mark "games" and the ere infamous Night Trap).
Admittedly I had Scotty Pippen's Slam City which also had this 'innovation'. |
