Awesome game...i wanted to play a good old style anime japanese type roleplaying game for a while and ToS is fantastic. It's on the Gamecube only for now, very hard to find for now because Namco did not make that many copies and it sold out almost everywhere the day it came out.The battles are especially fun, sort of like Grandia a bit only faster and more real time, the voice acting is great(One of the guys who does Teen Titan is on there)and the graphics are nice.Story seems standard fair so far but there's also ton of miniquest, recipes to cook stuff to find and the game is like 60 to 80 hours long.Give a try |

Thanks for the info Riel. I have actually been meaning to check this one out.
Question...
Do you suggest me going back and playing the other "Tales" games and if so, do you know what all of them are.
I played "Tales of Destiny" a little on the PSX but that's all.
Symphonia looks pretty sweet! |

Tales of destiny had a wicked cool battle system. Part 2 was supposed to be good, but I never had the pleasure. Definitely going to check this one out!

None of the Tales series connect to one another. Even ToD 1 and ToD 2 have storylines that don't work off of eachother. The only reason they are in a "series" is because the developers wanted the gameplay/general theme/Summon spirits to remain the same while working on completely different storylines. The only way they could do this (given the ending to each of the games) was to make seperate worlds/characters/games.
lol, in other words, you don't need to play any of the other Tales series first. |

I've played it for like 4 hours so far and it's pretty damn fun..The story is like holding a mirror to "Secret of Mana" and turning it one degree...So Namco lost point on originality. But it's real fun.
I think the AI grows though. At first my team sucked cause they were idiots. Now they have grown to my battling techniques and have really seem to blossomed as a nice death squad...Of death. |

yupyup... bought it yesterday... I'm about 2.5 hours in... sad that Gaaz is farther ahead on my game.
I'm liking it so far. and since I didn't play Secret of mana, I don't feel as Gaaz does.
good game... I suggest it... battles are quick and fun. And the visuals are fantastic...
what I'm most impressed with is... the voices... they are actually... not that bad. |
