Game: Record of Lodoss War.

I go to the blacksmith and request a special sword. 10,000$, no biggie, I pay up, and get a katana. Look at the stats, decide it sucks, and stash it away in my trunk for display.

And therefore I extensively upgrade my current two-handed sword and feel all mighty at me dishing out 1000 damage a pop.

However, during this ordeal, I take a closer look at one particular magic item I had. It was supposed to transfer Ancient Inscriptions from one piece of equipment to another - apparently, so you didn't have to pay the blacksmith to upgrade again. However, I realize that there are two types of inscriptions: permanent, which simply upgrade the weapon, and temporary, which can be set on the weapon at no cost and removed at will.

Curious, I go back to my trunk and take out the katana. I had extensively upgraded my two-handed sword with inscriptions to favor both higher damage and critical rate. I dish out 1000 damage, my critical rate is 20% and its multiplier is 1.2 Cute.

I look at the Katana.

Critical Multiplier: 8

Shocked

I use my magic item and transfer all my upgrades to the katana. I end up with a weapon that dishes out about 450 damage a pop, but with a staggering 80% critical rate. I have cash, so I upgrade the rate to BEYOND 100%.

Okay, cute!

To test out the weapon, I head for the nearest killing field and slaughter the first goblin in sight.

5500 DAMAGE!!!

I realize this is enough to kill a sub boss! And so, I begin a worldwide slaughter, catching up on all the secret dungeons I had missed and kicking ass at it. Very Happy

The only prob is that some monsters are fully immune to criticals, but I don't care. My katana rocks too much!

Moral of the story: carefully check out your RPG items before you throw them away. Some of their special properties are well hidden! Wink

That's a very good moral, on my comp game I have Assassin, with a crit rate of over 50, equiped with an +8 tripple crit katar. normally they cost 3.3mil considering each ss card, cost from any merchant in town about 900k to 1.2mil. And since I didn't have that much ever, I had to go on a journey to find the cards my self. ss cards come from Soilder Skeliton. Put the chances of you finding just one is extremely rare. Because their drop rate is 0.01 Shocked

OMG! So I search 4 months for 3 of these Soldier Skeliton cards. (Note: A Soldier skel card adds a +9 crit rate to any weapon) Having to had died and respawned many times. I finally found 3 Soldier Skel cards. Next I went to a friend of mine that's a black smith, and he literally did the coumpounding for free. When any other black smith, wouyld of done it for 1200 a card. I saved myself 800k and had a katar, that when i equiped it, brought my critical rate from 50 to 70. and my str is 22 with crit damage of 5600. Most bosses didn't stand a chance.

Hai, it is on RO, though i'm quite puturbed at them for messing with the training grounds, and monster locations.
