I'm in the Army. I'm currently on guard duty for 24 hours straight. I'm still in Georgia, which I'm sure I will never leave again, not whilst I exist on this plane of existance. It's 2pm. I started at 8:45am. I've got a long ways to go. Can anyone relate to a time when you literally had to stay in the same spot for 24 hours? It's wearing my mind down. I think I'm going to plot an assassination against a leader of a country that doesn't exist yet. RELATE WITH ME! PLEEEASE!  |

Man, that seriously sucks hard core. I dont think Ive ever been in a spot like that. Ive HAVE stayed up 24 hours before, but that was when I was excited about something, or had something to distract me like video games. Maybe Excel or Terin, two of our other two enlisted POs, can relate, eh guys? |

I've never worked 24 in the Air Force
but the Fire Department....oy that's different...twice I worked 48 hour shifts...in Chicago no less...non stop blood and frenzy
so I shall relate  |

I did 3 "24 hours shifts" in my previous job, I don't want to do that again. That impression of having staid in the office for a week isn't really fun. |

Back when I was doing volunteer work for my school's EMS service, I had to do a few of those, whenever I was on call. I would basically have to sit in my room and wait until my pager went off for a call, and if it did, I had to get up and go wherever the problem was. That was one of the things that I didn't like about doing EMS, and one of the reasons that I don't do it anymore. |

every day at work...just standing behind the counter and making people drinks. Its annoying, but its nothing compared to a 24 hour shift in ONE place. Thats harsh man. My regards to you, and the suckiness of your guard duty. hope it isnt too bad! |
