Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

Now the Konami "Sleeper hit" is out and adorning the shelves of your local games store and also adorning Shino's game rack in lieu of me not having my own.

This time through the game is hard...REAL hard. You do have radar however it runs on battery and as far as I can tell you have one battery.

The Bad guys walk set patrols of course however they veer off these courses of walking at the slightest sound. IE if a frog or snake is moving through underbrush they will go check it out. Which makes sneaking up on the guards next to impossible..I've yet to hold one up due to their extreme sensitivety. Also the guards camo's actually match the area they are in. MANY time I've been sneaking along minding my own business trying to eat some random bug or snake and WHAMMO Guard is 2 feet in front of me.

The saviour of Snake is of course your ability to change camo for situations. So far camoflage is the equivalent of the Holy Grail in the game because those nifty supressors every one loves...Yeah they deteriorate. IE Each one you have allows about 6 shots and then you either replace it or your gun attracts every soldier for a square mile.

Let it be known I have ONLY made it to the opening credits. You know like in MGS2 when you are Snake on the boat then the credits REALLY start. Yeah..I'm to that point and so far the story and Kojima's little additions to teh funny have left my shorts wet and Shino's couch ruined.

I'll update with more later. As for now this game is not my Bitch...*I* am this games bitch.

I played Faye's copy for a short period of time as I picked it up for him whilst he is at work all day. I can back up Gaaz's sentiments, hell I didnt get past the first two guys, but the game is graphically and directorially dazzeling so far. God bless hideo kojima. Coming as an extra surprise is the ability to download extra camo from the internet and also a special funny "Snake vs. Monkeys" game where you reprise the role of Solid Snake and track down the monkeys from...no one saw this coming...Ape Escape! Wild, huh? Anywho, looks good so far. *hopeful*

Note to all prospective buyers, There are lots of cut scenes but every one I've seen is in the 15 minute video that was at E3...It's my hopes that they are simply getting the story out of the way so the action can start.

With that being said I love slitting the throats of my enemies. And this nifty sleep function. Whenever you Save and turn the game off Snake goes to sleep for the amount of time your PS2 is off. So if you're poisoned or bleeding the poison will subside or the wounds will heal. Also Snake won't be tired anymore and your stamina will drop slower.

Sounds really cool. I loved the first game...didn't play the second at all (and heard bad things about it). So maybe I'll pick this one up and give it a shot...I'm always up for a challenge. But why the hell is it called Snake Eater? Just seems like a dumb title to me...

It's because the Special Forces group that won WW2 for the Americans was code-named "Cobra" Since they defected to Soviet Russia your mission is to destroy them...Cobra is a type of snake and you are to kill "Eat" them.

Your Official title is Naked Snake since you were trained by "The Boss" the leader of the "Cobra's" and you are entering the mission with no weapons IE "Naked"

It's actually a real clever title. And you should REALLY play MGS2 or else a lot of the stuff in MGS3 won't make any sense. Like the La-Lu-Li-Le-Lo

Fear not Ming, all will be revealed! In the first place, you can actaully eat snakes, but thats relaly beside the point. The title supposedly has something to do with snake himself. I have to say that I watched Faye play this for like four hours yesterday and I have a great impression of the game. It reallly caputres the feel and cinema of MGS-1 and expounds upon it, hardcore. I suggest picking this one up soon. Even I want to play through it.

I sit down and watched Faye play through it in a day. I wasnt very impressed. The story was there, but the whole scenario, the ending, all a little shakey. And Raiden was GAY. GAY GAY GAY.

The ending was shakey the first time you saw it because you were like, "WTFOMGBBQ?!?!?!?!"

After about the third time you beat it all the pieces start to come together and you learn that there is an underground government that controls ALL aspects of America and the whole point of Metal Gear Ray was to assist Metal Gear (Insert name here) in the event that another country or the USA got too powerful for the Patriots to take care of.

The Shell wasn't ACTUALLY a virtual mission but it was a front to kill the President because he was trying to override the Patriots control of the Metal Gear (Insert name here). The President was actually in league with the terrorists which was why he told Raiden he was doing the wrong thing because the Patriots were the ones sending out Campbells and his Ex-GF's image.
