I won't say it's perfect; there are many things I would have done differently...staying in character, for example, or sticking to the limits that I set forth in the beginning of the film(Or at least, I thought they set limits forth). However, I say the same thing about most of the American movies I see. The difference between this and the American movies is that the ending was worth sitting through the movie for. Absolutely. Oh yeah, and the acting is good, as well.

All in all, definitely worth seeing. I want the soundtrack now <_<

Yea, I'ma go ahead and say I hate most japanese live-action movies unless they are just that, action. Swords over drama anyday.

EDIT: Oh thaaat movie. No, I was just making a general statement about japanese movies and wanted to get something else that day. The movie itself looks pretty good.

Dai and I rented this movie a while ago. I thought the movie was pretty good. It had it faults but I believe it was well worth the rent.

But whatever you do.... do not watch Versus. Its another japanese action flik by the same director, but I believe it was made like 5 years before The Returner. Well apparently he learned something in those 5 years because Versus, blew.

It is not bad. The gun fights were very cool. I probably would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't been watching it with this sort of friend who walks into our dorm without knocking and is really kind of loud, and whose sheer presence is enough to make me loose my mind.

Did anyone feel that the alien looked a little like ET?

I agree with you, the gunfights were cool. However...I think there could have been a tad bit more close combat <_< Or maybe I'm just obsessed with martial arts >_>

Yeah I was expecting a little more of the close combat styled fighting but I think that was because everyone was asian. ^^

My favorite Japanese movie is still Moon Child.
