Those of you who know me know my parents are Hitler McNaziFaces. The fundamental problem with my genetic parents is their inability to understand logic. For example this is what happened last night: I reminded my parents that I had a Saturday lecture for my Academic Decathalon class. My dad started bitching about how he has to wake up early in the morning every day to drop me off at school and he kept going on about how he wasn't going to get any sleep. This wasn't directly to my face he was yelling at me through my mother. So i told him that he didn't have to drop me off and that I didn't have to go. I told him it wasn't a big deal mainly because it was just review over the astronomy section. He then started bitching about how I had to go so I said ok and went back to my room. Then he started bitching to my mom about how he had to wake up again and how he was going to take away my net access for a month. At this point I went downstairs and went to sleep where I couldn't hear him bitching all night...which he did. I woke up, took out the trash, did the dishs, took a shower. Still haven't eaten breakfast. Noticed the cable modem was gone and found out that he took it in the middle of the night and hid it. Now you might ask what would I do?

Ultrawolf strikes back. He wanted to take my net access. That's fine. I calmly unplugged all the AV cables to his precious widescreen TV. I took his laptop and cut him off from everything he does when he comes home from work. (TV, Laptop, DVD). Everything. You might think I'm a jerk. Frankly I don't care. I do things my way and I'm not afraid to fight back. I'm a free spirit and I don't like anyone who tries to cage me in any way. I'm fighting back for the years of torment I've been subjected to. If you don't hear from me for a while don't be worried.

Now I will assume he hasn't yet foung what you did. However, what I am about to ask/say is just playing devil's advocate. Don't you think this will precipitate another harsher response from him? I mean I don't claim to know thing 1 about your personal life (I try to just keep track of my own) :-p

I just wonder if instead of attacking back, do you have a way out? Like now that you're old enough I mean.

Anywho....good luck

I've tried unsuccessfully to talk to my father my entire life.
What would you propose?

wow...thats just rough. Since ive yet to have any type of disagreement of that level with my folks...i dunno what to say. I mean, thats just punishment to the highest degree.

I dunno though...im kind of with Excel here. Im more of a fan of the good ol contemplative argument. You know...sit down, and just start an argument, and argue tillyou both come to a consensus...but at the looks of it, you guys seem to have been doing that argument for a while now.

You're not a jerk you just can't stand it anymore.

I'm agree with excel and Tobias that is best to keep talking first and try to find some pacific way to understand each other but I know that sometime that just doesn't work at all.

I was living a lot of similar situation with my family and I had try so much thing. Tough, I didn't do what you did because I know my life would be unliving after that.

Anyway, I even went on specialist trying to figure it out and searching for a solution but even them admit that the only thing to do was to get out of here.

So, it's what I did and I have no regret.

You must keep in mind that when your living on someone house you are not totally free and can't totally be. You depend on them because they're paying for everything and you're legally on their responsability. You must respect that you aren't the one on control there. You have no other choice because if you play it hard, they have the power and right to play hard too and they have more power legally then you do.

That is my opinion. I suggest you to be careful even if I understand how you may feel.

I say you did the right thing. Your dad reminds me of my xgf's dad. A jerk, asshole, he probably curses his way to sleep as well.

My xgf never really had the ''balls'' to do such thing ... but I say it might lead to a lot of unwanted events, but I'd be ready to take the chance. Since it's true that you can't solve anything if you fight fire with fire, but if he gets to burn you for going to far, remember, you can always sue him ;p Of course that would lead to the almost total destruction of any hope to ever get a good relation with your dad. But hey, how bad could it get? In the ''worst case scenario'' after that, he'd be outa your sight for good. And that, is that a bad thing? O well. But if there is a way to fix things, which I don't really see right now, try finding one, might be worth it, I mean, he's your dad and all, and we only have one.

I don't know man. While I commend you for having the balls to do something like that, it just seems like something like that will just further escalate the problem. But then again, that's just me. I believe in avoiding conflict if possible and trying not to dig things in deeper...even though I am guilty of this myself many times. I guess what that say is true..."diplomacy is like saying 'nice doggy' until you find a big stick..."
