When I lived in Utah I had a class where, at a party they did the same type of thing to "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" Can't ppl just take stories for what they are. You can bend anything to mean just about whatever you want it to. Like the Harry Potter thing. Lighten Up ppl!
Sorry. As a writer, this is one of those things that bother me.

I know exactly what you mean, Marysanna! One of the things that I've been thinking about the last few years was Shakespeare. After one particular LA class where the teacher spent the entire lesson explain a HUGE and complicated theory about where he got the names Rosencrantz and Guildenstern I just looked at him and said: "But what if he just WROTE the darn thing to be a good play!?" I mean, come on! Some of the things people "see" in books could be nothing more than pure accident, completely unintentional. I mean, one time after I had someone read one of my stories they asked me about all this symbolism stuff that I had put in there and I was all like: "What symbolism? I just WROTE it. For fun!" Anyway, the short version is this: Be careful about what you think is and isn't in writing. Just because someone put pen to paper doesn't mean they were a genuis and their works contain the mysteries of life. Even if he WAS Shakespeare.
