From what I heard(havent seen it) its all real, no special effects, no wires(crouching tiger), no nothin lol.

My amazement wasn't completely in the fact the man used no wires or special effects but in the control he had when you would see him "practicing". It was amazing to see how no move was wasted and who procise he was. Absolutely jawdropping to watch the control he had over it.
It's a movie, so it's made for entertainment. Not in the Jackie Chan slapstick sort of way. They tried to toss in a serious story (small village has ancient buddha artifact's head stolen and they send the towns best fighter - Ting - to recover it from thieves in Bangkok) It's a pretty cliche story but watching Tony move is worth the money.
There are parts about underground illegal fighting, druglord with a tracheotomy, feet of flames and apparently folks in Bangkok loving the hell out of bad rap.
Many are comparing it to Bruce Lee types of movies.
I don't know if it helps but I certainly believe if anything this movie is a wonderful show of Tony's abilities. |

Mwahaha I liked the kind of cheese feel those ''illegal'' fights had. All the people in there made me think of some characters taken out of a video game with their predefined set of stereotyped personnalities/behavior attached to them  (CapcomvsSNKish)
Overall, I liked that movie more for the acrobatics then for the fights. I didn't dislike the fighting scenes, it's just that I'm quite skeptical about the efficienty of a few moves he uses against other people every now and then. And man, I think I'd watch it again just for the very first fight he had. It was litterally ... jawdropping. |
