So I'm up to 167 lbs...all new muscle. I've grown out the stache...and they call me Hardcore Hunter because when asked why did I join the military I always say 'to hunt terrorist'. So my question to you is this...can you be too 'hardcore' at something? |

Yeah I think people can be too hardcore. That leads to ego then overconfidence and finally stupidity.
End of line

Hah. A lot of those DOS games were really good, better than some of the pretty-yet-tripe games that appear these days. You're not hardcore, you just have good taste. |

Well Graillik, right now, I'm working on getting extra stamina and perhaps lil more muscle as well to be able to eventually do that, hunt terrorists ... or go and head for V.I.P. protection, I'm still wondering which to go for.
But as of right now, hmmm I'd say I'm hardcore at ignoring that lil voice inside my body that sometimes says "stop!" and keep going ... keep climbing or riding my bike, because I know inside that, when I'm down to function on sheer willpower, I'm not almost out of energy, I just half way through. So you might ask me, "is the bottle half full or half empty?" I'd tell you "It's full for as long as it isn't empty".
But I try not being "hardcore" like that on a dayly basis, I don't think it's very good for the body ^^; |

I am with excel, there is nothing wrong with it as long as you are not arrogant about it, I hate people who are arrogant lol. Also I would say you have a prob if you take it to a level that will cause social or physical problems.
Other than that bein hard core is a good thing I think lol |

That brings up an interesting idea. Where is the line between arrogance and confidence? |

It's extremely fine for alot of people sadly...I guess if I had to define the line...I would say it lies with how the specific person shows him or herself to the rest of the world.

Arrogance is when you brag about it all the time, and continually drop hints about it. It's pretty obvious to me when someone just cannot get over themselves because even if they don't outright say anything, they drop subtle and not-so-subtle hints about how they think of themselves. Of course, most of them just go on to say they are just confident, though in reality, they are definitely braggarts.
Confidence is action. If a person is so good at something, (and excuse the Nike slogan here) just do it. SHOW you are good at it by doing it, not talking about it. People don't need verbal examples to know a person is good at something. After all, if a person are good at something, people will know anyway without them having to tell everyone about it all the time.
Of course, if someone ASKS if you can do something, saying you can, and even saying you are good at it, in at least somewhat a modest manner, is no problem. After all, if someone says "Hey, are you good at this?" you want to answer honestly. If someone asked me if I was good at something, and I was, I would say something akin to, "Yes, I am. I honestly believe I am pretty darn good at it." I usually add something silly at the end, "like, but don't even ask me a math question!" to lighten the mood and keep people from thinking I am trying to come across as perfect. I learned that the hard way. |

when you become so hardcore about the local music scene that you die your hair jet black, get a generic emo kid haircut and start to wear chick pants that look like they've been painted on to your legs....
You may be too "hardcore"
I hate scene kids
