The Air Force does some strange things when it comes to rules and such. Like you have to live in tech school a certain number of weeks before you can start having your freedoms back...like months.
Also they allow other students to be in charge 'some what' of other students and keep the place running.
I phase up Monday...so I can drink and wear civilian clothes after duty, leave base in Blues, and many other neat things. Two weeks from now I can leave for the weekends and not were Blues off base.
I also made stand by, which means I'll be 'Roped' in the near future. Either way you look at it...lifes gettin pretty sweet.

All I am gonna say is don't be like all the other ropes. That piece of thread doesn't mkae you above all others. This I know because i was a red before I left tech school.

ahhh
once an Airman finishes basic training, he or she goes to tech school to learn their job. At the tech school there are different ropes that are worn on the shoulder to signify things. They are as follows.
Blue - These are MTL's. They are the people who run the squadrons.
White - Student Chapel leaders
Green - Students who help guide the flight when marching
Yellow - Students a step above green
Red - Student squadron leaders. These folks sorta 'run' the flight
It's all just an honorary thing but it's not all bad

I'm gonna start at green and work my way up. Since my Tech School is very long it gives me plenty of time to get to Red. Excel is right for the most part but our Greens don't march the flight. The Post sidewalks arent big enough to march on. So the green run floors of dorms. Yellows run bays, Reds run other things like accountability and other stuff. It's a lot of responsibility, but it looks good on your PR. |

hey, awesomeness. I remember when i was in boyscouts, i got to wear a rope around my shoulder for being a denchief!
On a side note...that WAS boyscouts.
