I've heard a lot about this all over the past few days, and I have a huge problem with how involved the media is becoming in their lives. This girl probably isn't all that bad, she just probably flipped out and went with some really rash decisions. The fact that the media is making this so public to people that don't necessarily know the intire situation is really obnoxious. It could ruin her life emotionally and socially. How would you like to be known by the intire world for one little mistake you made?
The media needs to get out of personal lives.

Well, it would have been one thing if she just ran away. But she went so far as to fake her own kidnapping, and I think she even got a guy or something to pretend to be the kidnapper over the phone (Or I heard something about that atleast). She didn't even carry a change of clothes, I think the authorities said she was wearing the same clothes when they found her as she was wearing when she left. There's some pretty good signs of maybe some mental issues there, and she was clearly putting herself in a great deal of danger running off like that.
In any case, I think she should stand trial atleast for the misdemeanor offense (Can't remember what it actually was, but it was considered a misdemeanor) because of 2 reasons. One, doing all that, she could proabably use a good psychological evaluation, and the only way she can be made to have one is if she's being tried; and two, even if she's of decent mental standing, she needs to face some reprecussions to get her a reality check, that you can't go out and do things like that, such as faking your own kidnapping, But I don't think they should go as far as the felony offense.
As for the kit, haha, leave it to people to find a way to capitalize on someone else's misfortune. |

I agree. I read about this in the paper today and I don't understand the big hullabaloo. It's her private life. She panicked and made a mistake in a moment of high stress. She's alright. Everything's ok. |

i think i have to disagree with you guys, from what i've read/heard on the news. while i think it was crappy of the media to sink its teeth into this situation so much (and aren't there better things going on the world to learn about?), i think this lady has some serious issues with mental stability. i mean, it's one thing to run out on your wedding day, but it's a whole new monster when you go so far as to fake your own kidnapping. at the very least, she is incredibly immature and irresponsible and craves attention like a stuck up little princess bitch. she deserves prosecution, but the media (as usual) went way overboard. but really, it says something pretty sad about the idiot american public that she probably got better ratings for the news stations than real news would have gotten.

I'm pretty much with SilverOrb on this one. Yeah, it's not necessarily a good thing the way they're making fun of her and all of that, but this woman really deserves it. The police have enough -real- crimes, they don't need to be devoting their time and effort to one neurotic woman who was too embarrassed to admit she was nervous and wanted to postpone/call-off the wedding. If you change your mind about getting married, just call the damn thing off-- faking your own kidnapping is -not- a good idea. She deserves everything she gets, if you ask me. Stupidity has consequences, get over it. |

I hadn't heard anything about this, so I went and checked it out.
She will get no sympathy from me, for one she is an idiot plain and simple. two she claimed that it was a "hispanic" that kidnaped her which just furthers hate and stereo types, cause you know those mexicans love to steal white women . . .and oh yeah she is a fucking idiot. |

The bride kit thing is stupid too >_<.
From what I heard on Howard Stern yesterday, she premeditated the hell outta this, even buying her bus ticket a week before the wedding. |

Well in light of the status of the world today where husbands are killing their wives and kidnappings are rampant the maneuver she pulled is incredibly stupid.
She should be fined and served community service for the premeditation. She really shouldn't go to jail but seriously put a nice hefty fine on it. If she can't get her crap straight and act like a frikkin adult then it shouldn't be up to the police nor the rest of the world to help find her and her assanine ways.
And the bride kit? People feel they are being so clever about things like this. The truth in that is it is old.
Seriously old. |
