I am sooo sad~ - HELP ME!

HEY ALL! Um I have just got to get this out in the open. Today in English class I offered to read part of my english essay on WWII. I won't get into my political views but basically my class & teacher dissagree with my views. Now I have NO problem with that. I love it when people have differing opinions. That makes everything so much more interesting. Ok the point is that after reading my *long!* paragraph on the use of Propaganda by the Nazis in WWII and The Republican party during The recent Iraqi war. My entire class save 3 or 4 people laughed/ yelled at me because they thought my opinions were wrong. Then they called me a killer/terrorist because they thought I had said that Sadam and Osama Binladen were "good" people. Just so you know I had a friend die in the World Trade Center. He was a great man....... I don't think what those two men did or continue to do is okay or right but I believe that no one has the right to decide wether people live or die. I also believe no matter what war is not the answer! I have to admit I started to cry right there in class while being hounded by my peers. I also have to say I never cry unless its for something VERY serious. I was sooooo upset. I have beem crying the entire afternoon. I just can't stop. I just don't know what to think..... Am I really a bad person? Are my beliefs wrong, I am soooo confused! Please Help me!

No one's personal opinions are wrong. Opinions are opinions and nothing more, and every one has there own. Those who laugh at other opinions can never accept anything out side there little world where they were tought to think one way. I have always beleaved that people who can form there own opinions about things are some of the smartist people around.

So just take it easy and know that there are people out there who undstand. Oh, and no matter what they say or do, you walk back into that class tomorrw (or when ever it comes up next) hold your head up high and don't ever back down from what you beleave.

While I'm the resident Warmonger and can't say I agree with ALL your views. IE War is bad but sometimes necessary ends to a mean in my view. They REALLY shouldn't have dogged ya..

Was this report an open debate? Probably not. The kids are entitled to their opinions but NOT entitled to voice them in an impromtive way.

The first amendment protects peoples opinions by cleary stating that you can have an opinion and voice an opinion as long as you don't upset the course of someone elses life. IE protesting at a school and pushing students that want to get to class instead of burning bras.

So I'm thinkin you should unleash yer bro on the infediles.

Aside from the harshness of it...it makes a lot of sense. Everyone has an opinion about something. The notion of an opinion is that it is neither right nor wrong...it's just what someone thinks about something. If it were right, it would be a fact, not an opinion. Regardless though, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You have a right to believe whatever you want, and be proud of it.

But I don't think that that is your problem here. I think the problem is that your class most likely misunderstood what you were telling them. You're what, 13 years old? You're a smart girl that comes from a VERY intelligent family. That gives you a sort-of edge on everyone else, but at the same time, it may be hard for some kids your age to understand you're views, which are most certainly more mature than they can handle. I think that if you presented your paper to a more intellectual and mature audience, they would respect it, and probably be able to see where you're coming from.

Just don't let it get you down. Tiroka is right...you have to walk back into that classroom with your head held high. Just remember..."you're a god among insects."
