MMORPG getting its due on the silver screen?
by IGN FilmForce
May 8, 2006 - World of Warcraft on the big screen? It could happen... and soon. IGN FilmForce has learned that Legendary Pictures, the production company behind Superman Returns and Batman Begins, may turn the massively-multiplayer online gaming hit into a feature film. The official announcement could come as early as Tuesday -- timed to take advantage of E3 buzz.
Other flicks on Legendary's slate are Where the Wild Things Are, Paradise Lost, 10,000 B.C., M. Night's Lady in the Water and the next films in the rejuvenated Superman and Batman franchises.
The World of Warcraft movie would likely be distributed by Warner Bros. under their multi-year distribution deal with the production company which is topped by Chris Lee (Jerry Maguire, The Mask of Zorro, Apt Pupil).

Sweet, at the beginning of the movie it can go black every five minutes simulating connection drops then as that improves they'll have a sound track of 12 year olds screaming "NERF" until the movie ends with the heros giving up and walking away since they can't please everyone.

Acutally if they make it like what happens during actual game-play on purpose, this could be a wonderful comedy : D |

I must object on that, the story of the game itself is worth creating some plot around. After reading the sunwell trilogy (manga), and with other books that have been totally great reads. It is believable that a movie could be made with a story that would be as immersive. Heck it could be all about Thrall and it would be great. His origin was some of the most plot driven, yet emotionally stirring I had read. |

This is obviously the best Idea ever. Add in auction house hermits that jack up prices, some guy running around screaming enchant prices all day, chinese farmers, and have a minimum of 40 people on screen at a time and its an instant classic. For a dramatic moment, they could kick someone out of the movie mid way for not showing up on time to the raid...I mean scene. |

Twenty minutes solid of low-level farming for crafting? Or minutes of a night elf running around spamming the space bar? (I myself do that, I lurf flipping >^.^< You can always tell when someone plays a NE main, though, 'cause we do that even when we're playing alts). |
