So today I was bored at work and began dwelling upon the past, and so I revisited FlopJocks, which you can find here:
FlopJocks
FlopJocks was a collective effort between myself, and the three individuals that I consider to be the best friends I have and will ever have (although there are some new additions to that group). Actually, I was more the slacker in the whole initiative, but that's a different story.
To sum everything up, I'm a geek. So are the other three. We grew up playing the game of Magic, which I'm sure MANY of you are familiar with. At one point, we decided that it would be fun to create a webcomic based around our favorite past time. We ran strong for a while, but like all good things, it eventually came to an end. I'm not quite sure why it ended, but a few efforts were made to revive it, although none really succeeded. I suspect that it's downfall was due, ultimately, to boredom, lack of motivation, and the fact that each of us were in very differnt regions of the country and were creating everything online.
But regardless, FlopJocks has been immortalized in it's own little piece of internet, as you can see above. While the information is outdated now (for those of you who may play modern Magic), everything there is still quite good, if I do say so myself. So if you don't have anything else to do, why not give it a look. It it weren't for FlopJocks, none of us would have ever discovered Pocket Otaku in the first place (and yes, at one point, we were all members of PO...with Rev and myself being the only prevailing ones). |

We have tried to revive it in the past. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked, and I don't think the general interest is really there anymore anyway. As far as a new crew is concerned...it just woulnd't be the same thing with different people. The group of us that created that pretty much grew up together, and definitely played the game together. Much of what you see in the comic actually happened....for example, the infamous "Hide the Beeble" comment, which has me in stitches re-reading it years later.
My posting the link for FlopJocks is more to showcase it, because after having re-read most of the strips...I still think it's pretty good. |
