OK, so now I see Konami has decided never to release a true console version of the card game. Having just gotten the newest release (Capsule Monster Coliseum) I find it to be a kinda hybrid between Dungeon Dice Monsters, Duelist Of The Rose, Chess, and Checkers. It is a very good strategy game (altho a bit easy) but I'm curious why they continue to do everything but a card game. You'd think that with the larger memory consoles they could more easily replicate the GB/GBA games and it'd be too easy to fit in every stinkin' card. But there've been everything from card/board games to real time strategy games so far. Again, I do like the game but I find it curious why Konami wouldn't just take the engine and create new franchises instead of using the Yugioh title to sell these games. I can see grabbing an audience with the name but seeing as how it's very little like the game you'd expect it to be, it seems a bit silly. You'd think they were Capcom the way they're milking the license. |

Ouch.
Unfortunatly, they get money using the liscencses shamelessly, another product of target marketting and f00lish parents >_<. Look at it this way, they get money from projects like that so that they can pour money into more ambitios, riskier projects in teh future. Gotta play he safe card, then the ricky card, like diversiifying a stock portfolio. |

I'm with ya reaper. I own soooo many different card games for my systems. My favorites are Monster Rancher Card Battle Episode 2 and the Digimon Card Game(Forget the EXACT title) for playstation. I used to have the Yugioh card game (the first one that came out for original playstation) but it sucked so bad it was sad. I LOVED the Pokemon card game for gameboy color and I kinda wish they would release another one. The problem really I guess is interest or lack of interest. It's either hit or miss which kinda sucks. The Yugioh games are kinda fun but i wish there was one that had the real rules and didnt branch off into another genre. *sigh* |

True, it's like
Designer: "Hey our card game is a hit so let's make a videogame out of it"
Marketing: "Right! And since RTS games are so hot, let's make it an RTS"
Designer: "uh...or maybe a card game?"
Marketing: "Or a first person shooter! Yeah, they're all the rage now!"
Designer: "uh...or maybe a card game?"
Marketing: "Or a hybrid RTS/Firet person shooter! Hell ya!"
Designer: "sigh...ok, I got kids to put thru college. Whatever you want."
(one year later)
Marketing: "Hey, our game didn't sell. That license is crap."
Designer: "Or maybe it should have been a card game?"
Marketing: "yeah right, like anyone plays card games."
(fade to black)
The Pokemon Card Game was so much fun (I still play) and even tho I don't like Magic you'd have to think that if they recreated the TCG format by making each game cover one Block they could have sequels every six-eight months. Only the GB Yugioh games come close to following the card game rules and they still use the dumbass rock-paper-scissors technique (which works in Pokemon where it was designed to work) that screws everything up. Wow, someone should create a new card game that reflects us card-playing PO's interests, ya know? |

AH ,AHAHAHAHA ops, oh sorry but I have no pitty for card games and shows that america ruined. I use to play this game, as a matter of fact at our local Books Amillion one day me and my friend chris decided to play a little trick on all the kids there, we got the manager of the store to allow us to potray as the rare hunters. So that week we went out and bought some face paint and madalion necklaces from party city, practiced our straight faces, and the next weekend roled around was the next yugioh tourniment. We brought sign up forms for the registration for being a rare hunters, and told the kids we registered in florida. Surprisingly quite a few of the forms the kids took, and one kid even went to florida to find out. It was hularious.
How ever if you want to know a real interesting card game, Ken Akamatsu has came out with his own love hina CRG! and it kicks ass. |
