I'm fairly certain Blues was exagerating that the coach was yelling at him in Theater.
Chances are he gave him a stern talking to and embarrassed him in front of other kids so his psyche changed "Stern talking to" into "Thru a hissy fit." If the coach yelled at you in front of another teacher that teacher would have stepped in and halted him or reported him to the Principal.
Or there's always the scenario that the coach asked him to remove the glasses in the hallway and Blues ignored him got into his sitting area and the Coah was upset at the disrespect and felt he needed to be taken down a peg.
It's all about who tells the story and what parts were left out to make the teller look the part of the innocent.
I myself wasn't there but I've found in my High School when kids bitched about being yelled at it was because they brought it on themselves and convieniently leave THAT part out. |

^^ I follow these kinds of threads, I don't post because I generally don't care either way on most subjects, but man do I love GAAZ's bluntness.
And since when has a high school not had a hat/glasses rule? Do they also not have other rules such as walkmen, bad-representation on clothes, or the likes? |

-In Canada, they are STILL debating on whether or not to allow the hajib in school.
-In Barbadian schools, walkmans, fancy hair cuts, non-uniforms, playing cards etc. were banned. One day, someone took out his walk-man when the end bell rang. As he was walking towards the exit, one of the teachers saw him with the walkman and told him to hand it over right now. The student refused. The teacher replied by snatching the device and promptly smashing it on the floor. |

BTW, don't take my previous post the wrong way. I'm not saying Blues is a complete liar or anything. Just that people tend to exagerate situations to make them look guilt free.
There is a chance everything he said was entirely true. But at the same time some people were raised with the engraining that Indoor sunglasses are NOT allowed and Blues might have been the camel that broke the straws back. |

Sunglasses arent allowed in my high school unless they're prescription and for that you need a doctor written note justifying your need for them. We are, however, allowed to listen to our CD players, walkmans, MP3 players, etc. out as long as it isnt during class so maybe Blues school is a little more relaxed around the whole sunglasses thing. |

I'd be more inclined to believe that if the coach had not been WEARING sunglasses at the time. I am seriously not making this up... I have neither the time nor the energy to do that.
My school is nuts, and oh how I love it. |

It is a delicate balance between allowing the teachers to exercise discipline in their classrooms and school and requiring their students have sufficient freedom to flex their wings. Many schools have adopted "zero-tolerance" policies that do not allow for such flexibilities, and it sounds, perhaps, like the coach was enforcing one of those. Such policies are often put to brainless uses by following its letter than spirit.
I'm sympathetic to Blues, not being too far out of high school myself and sees the sorts of silly, stupid things that educators would do (or have to do) because their perception of the rules said so. I've also seen wonderful teachers who understood how to enforce without being dogmatic or silly.
Tough it out, man, and be ready with the light sensitivity argument. Just understand that a lot of teachers use eye contact as a means of discerning who's paying attention, and that sunglasses make that impossible. |
