I can't get past the damn waterfall section on the first level. After maybe an hour of stupid jumping I managed to pass the damn waterfall but now I've beaten the enemies there and failed to do a jump before breaking the crate so I can't get out of the damn pit. I can't kill myself and you can't even pause and save the game!
Thank god this was a rental or I'd be out killing someone right now. This is why I hate platform games. |

Hmmm it says "Real Gamer lvl 54) under your name, so I would think that a simple platformer wouldn't be able to get you in a tizzy like this....definately dont try Ninja Gaiden on Xbox, you'll end up taking out an entire convent of Nuns and little sad orphans. |

Well I did figure out how to pass it after calming myself down (and a coupld 24oz bottles of Dew) but it really doesn't make much sense that to get out I had to activate the Slow Motion feature. What that had to do with the solution of escaping had zero connection. I try to link a little logic with my gaming hence as much mashable fun as VJ1/VJ2 are, they don't quite pose a challenge to my Real Gamer tag. |

Have you ever played the VJ series. They are anything but simple! |

OK, they may not be "simple" but they're far from challenging. It's no deeper than the 16 bit Mario or Sonic games. And please don't say they were challenging, I mean on a mental level.
But I'm not attacking the series, I just am not impressed with platform games, I play them as a release. An "I've got 15 minutes to kill before I go out, what should I do" kind of thing. |

I challenge your title with the following games o_o
Megaman Zero 3 (get A or higher rank in all levels) (GBA)
Contra: Shattered Soldier (PS2) on normal
Metal Slug 3 (Xbox)
I-Ninja (once you get your Blue Belt, things get hard) (PS2/Cube/Xbox)
Real platformers/platform shooters ;p although if VJ gets you down... |

How does using the slow power to escape not make ant sense? The powers in VJ make things speed up and slow down. It makes perfect sense. |

Well to get past that little post-waterfall area you have to use the slow motion to make the hoverthingy come down. Why would this make it come down? I could see if it were going up an down really fast and you had to slow it to time your jump but it just sits there UNTIL you slow down time and then miraculously it falls down. I'm just not comprehending this.
Also, I've played a bit of I-Ninja (fun) and have spent years of my life blowing isht up on the Metal Slug series but altho I like these games, becoming a platform master is not being a Real Gamer. When you can routinely master the Need For Speed, Virtua Fighter, Puyo Puyo, Shining Force, Madden, NBA Jam, Shanghai, etc. series then you get to make claims. Being a one trick pony (even if that trick is extremely good) isn't being a Gamer. I love the 8-bit Megaman games tho I've never finished any of them after the first one. I just prefer to play many types of games. Matter of fact I personally try NOT to finish a game. In general, any non-rpg game that ends is a waste to me. Nowadays, there are so many ways to continue gameplay after the main story is done that to just give me "X amount of hours of gameplay" is a nice copout. An RPG is like a book, it has to reach a conclusion of sorts so I have no problem with that but for virtually any other type of game to end is pretty weak. GTA has elevated the bar so high that even tho no one around even comes close (I am now a believer of the GTA Godliness) there is room for open endedness that shouldn't unbalance or affect the main storyline. For $50 I should be able to enjoy the product for more than seven days.
RPGs should have endings...no other game should. Just my opinion tho. |
