Riddle of the day

I decided to start posting riddles each day and seeing who can come up with the answer first. All of the riddles will be written by myself, so no one will have the advantage of having seen it before. Some will be fairly easy, and others will be harder. There will be different ways to solve the riddles, too, so you will not always be able to just look at and come to the answer as easily as that.

Now for the first riddle:

A single being, blanched of colour,
flies on gossamer wings.
Tossed by faint zephyrs,
it floats across the horizon

Delicate as spun glass,
fantastic in its design.
Born in the heavens,
it comes to rest on land.

Disappearing among its comrades,
its unique beauty escaping,
enfolded into the stillness,
it lies in rest at last.

Next riddle!

Appendages of a fowl, feathered friend,
with claws that can easily rend,
but that is not the dangerous part,
no, indeed, that is at the start.

A finely-honed saw,
attached firmly to the jaw;
beware for your finger, even your hand,
for these can lay bare the land.

It has a distinct affinity to the water,
and its coat is as sleek as an otter’s,
but it more closely is related to the rat.
So now, what do you think of that?

A built in oar, keeps it moving,
and never does it stop its building.
Destruction, creation, it does both well,
What is this thing, can you tell?

A beaver seems to fit the description you provide,
so I'll guess that and watch as she takes it out of my hide.

Twisting, turning, double back.
Keep them from my track.
Wheeling, racing, move as one,
Following until ‘tis done.

Swiftly moving snakes at end,
Lash and beat, at base they bend.
Ivory glistens in the light.
I run on, quick in fright.

Flash of red, through the trees.
Quickly now, for the leader sees
a glimpse of me as I race,
As even now, I quicken my pace.

Far from home, I did stray,
But who am I, and what are they?

Sounds to me like a foxhunt

Like the fox is the riddler and the horses with the fox hunters and they wear red coats...but since I am sure I am wrong I'll have to keep thinking
