I have decided to do a review. You will have to excuse my inability to write. ; )

Name: Yoshi Catch! Touch! (Yoshi's Touch & Go)
System: Nintendo DS
Capabilities: Wireless 2 player (only one cart req)
Release: 1/27/05 (3/14/05 US)
Cost: $50 Jap ($30 US)
Score: 4/5

At first glance the game was hard and very annoying, but after playing for a short while I have decided it's quite fun and challenging. I didn't know anything about the game before, so it was a total learning experience. I don't speak japanese so figuring out what was going on was interesting to say the least. There isn't any text in the game as far as I know, but on the selection screen there were 6 choices.

You can only use the stylus and the microphone to play the game. That was very very strange for me since... well I play most of my DS games without the stylus. Having seen some videos prior, I knew you had to draw clouds and bridges to keep Yoshi and Baby Mario from dying, but never saw how to shoot eggs. You have to tap on him to jump or tap on the screen to shoot an egg. To kill bad guys to earn points, you either circle them with a cloud which turns them into a coin holding bubble or you shoot them with your egg. It took some practice but I can finally do it fast enough.

I don't have everything unlocked yet so I can't tell you anything else about the game. I have noticed that how many points you earn or how many miles you go in a level determines what color yoshi you get. That seems to determine what kind of level you go into and how many bad guys will be in that level. Everytime you die and go back it gets easier.

Yep.. so that's it. I think it is a very fun game overall and the playability is there since the levels are constantly changing. I'll update when I unlock the other choices. And because I am a picture whore... enjoy~!

Very awesome. Thankya for the review. I'm pretty interested in this game, It reminds me alot of Yoshi's Island and I loved Yoshi's Island.

Well the graphics are a lot like Yoshi's Island but the game play is nothing like it. You can do similar things like shoot eggs and you can see the reused characters from the SNES games, but I can't think of anything that would make them at all similar beyond that.

**edit 2/13/05**
OKay I played the multiplayer level with Dustin and I played the two levels that I had to unlock.

Multiplayer
Well the multiplayer/download is really only a 2 player survival mode. It uses both screens (you on the touch screen and your opponent on the top). It's like playing the regular game but you are trying not to die no matter what. If you are playing against someone who hasn't played the game much, of course you will win. ; ) I wasn't that impressed with it myself.

The Games

A very bad opening screen shot but it gives you an idea of what I am looking at when I start the game up. I have no idea what any of it is supposed to mean since it's in Japanese so I'll call them the top right, top left, bottom right, bottom left when referring to the games.

Here is what I have seen so far -
-------------------------------------
TOP LEFT - Score - You have to get over 300 points on this to unlock the BOTTOM LEFT game. It's actually pretty hard since you have to pick up fruit to get eggs and you have to kill almost all the guys in the second half of the game. My high score was 307 - lol just made it and I had blue Yoshi. It seems that the color Yoshi determines what the level will be like.

Gamepsot didn't have that great of images for this level. All blurry!

TOP RIGHT - Meters(?) - You have to get over 3000m without dying. That was kinda hard cause the levels change quickly and they get harder. Everytime you die and try again the level is different. They seem to be randomly generated or something.

After either of the top two levels are beaten, you will unlock the corresponding lower level.

BOTTOM LEFT - Time - You have 3 minutes to kill the shyguys carrying luigi around. I haven't beat this one yet hehe.... It is rather hard.

BOTTOM RIGHT - Survival - You are trying to get 3000m without getting caught by the guy who always rides the broom (I don't know his name) but it started you with 100 seconds. In order to keep the time from falling too much you have to kill as much stuff as you can (it's hard cause you run out of eggs so fast!)

I got a chance to play this a little the other day when NBK brought it over to Doot's. It was really a lot of fun. Very challenging too.

Yeah didn't I tell you it was hard! I should beat the only level I haven't beaten to see if it unlocks other levels or at least another mode or something. If it has a story in the end I'll have to wait for someone to get the english version and beat it to know what is going on. ; )
