License vs original property. Which way is best?

This idea stems from the "Videogames go downhill" thread actually. My thought is what is right/wrong with people selling themselves off into games (for this thread we'll use games).
How we got here was simply on the idea that 50 Cent has his own game coming out and if you wanna comment on that then find that thread in this same forum but I was thinking:
If you had the choice of being in a game or having a game made for you, which would you choose? Now if it's an established property then it would be a license of some sort. Either you are a character in an ongoing world (Final Fantasy, Capcom's VS series, etc) or it's your game about you, featuring you (Shaq Fu, for lack of a better choice), which would you choose.

Now let's lay some ground rules first:
1) For both choices the game would be done by a reputable company for that genre. Rockstar would not be making a sports game, Nintendo would not be making a graphic first person shooter.
2) It would not be a groundbreaking genre. If it's your game it's going to be a well established safe setting (shooter, driver, fighter, etc).
3) You would have personal input as to voiceovers, art concepts, and storylines if it's original, not so for a franchise.

Now given the plusses (built in market for a franchise, more creative license for a new game), what would you choose? I won't give my selection til we get like ten or so responses.

I would want my own game...If possible make it a mix world of other games...oo

id go for the franchise as a bit part character, wouldnt want to have all the attention focused on me, or like a secret character thats only an option to find like vincent valentine in FFVII

I'd pick Franchise. I think it would feel more me if I was simply a part in a much greater scheme or setting. Thus making the world my idea would be in more wonderous since it seems a bit egotistical to have it all about me.
