Explorer problem

whenever i try to access folders such as My Documents or My Computer or anything folder related. i get this message

"Explorer has caused an error in <unknown>
Explorer will now close"

i have no idea whats going on as it just started doing it suddenly, anyone have any ideas how to fix it, it suggested resetting the computer but that doesnt make a difference, i cant access control panel either.

is there any other programs i can use that will let me explore and go through folders on my pc?

Ad aware
scan disk
defrag

If that doesn't work... reinstall windows over your currently installation.

and how do i go about re installing windows? as we dont have the discs (pc world is a shoddy company that dont give you any discs to sort your computer out if it goes wrong they relie on you taking it in and paying them to mess it up more)

You'll have to go back to 'em and ask for your CD. Unless they put a bootleg on your computer, that copy of Windows is yours and only yours. If they can't find it, then have them give you a brand new Windows, this way at least you'll be able to reinstall and register properly. It's their fault for failing to supply you with the program CDs for the things in your computer. You should be given a CD copy of EVERYTHING that's been bundled with your comp, no matter who made your computer. Otherwise, it makes reinstalling that much harder.

ill have a hunt, you see id of queried it if i was around when chixie and her mum bought it, but ]i didnt know them then, its due for a healthcheck soon, so ill talk to them then
