I will say this once:
Katana are not swords that you can wield in either hand at the same time. While light for their size, they deliver heavy blows and are made to be wielded in both hands. Even if you were to somehow acquire a katana that was feather-light, something so light would not be able to have enough force from its weight to cut through anything--much the same way a cardboard tube does not cut through flesh and bone like so much air.
As I am not long-winded, I leave you with this:
CARDBOARD TUBE SAMURAI HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! |

The idea that everyone gets about two katanas is from katana and wakizashi, which can be used together. Though from what I've read, it's not nearly as good as using a katana with two hands. If it's good enough for Ryu Hayabusa, it's good enough for me. |

Now we're talking!
There are sets of two that can be made to be wielded dually. Also many people are taught to do strong arm and weak arm techniques with the katana should they ever be in a situation where one arm is now useless. However, this is not in total disagreement with the sheep. Holding two katanas at the same time is foolish.
End of line

I prefer to have an open hand while wielding my heavy-as-lead BWS-1 katana ... then again I should have a BWS-2 wakizashi instead. I don't like the idea of having 2 hands on a sword handle, beh, that's just me! |

The legendary ronin, Miyamoto Musashi was said to have mastered the two sword technique of Katana and Wakizashi he called Niten'ichi (Two Heavens as One). This style of two sword kenjutsu definitly has a "Badass" factor to it imo. |

i'll stick to the broadsword...thank you very much
yea, katanas also arent double-edged, which if it were, it would possibly make it easier to do.
Yea. Might as well go with the dual lightsabres

Two hands on the sword's hilt provide the amount of control you'd need to wield a weapon so heavy and long... and also single-edged.
Katana/wakizashi would be really hard, but from what I hear, Miyamoto Musashi was strong as hell, too, to beat a great swordsman using nothing but a heavy wooden oar. |
