Being a military wife sucks

I never knew being married to someone in the military could be so hard. Fox and I got a call last Monday telling us that Fox will be leaving for a dangerous part of the desert. Can't tell you exactly where, I'm not even supposed to know, but I figured it out cuz I'm supersneaky and smart (Whoo!) Anyway, Fox was supposed to leave sometime mid to late May, but now he has to leave this thursday (5 May 2005). It really sucks! He will miss Akon, his birthday, my birthday, and our first year wedding aniversary *SOB* Anyone out there been in a similar situation? What did you do? How did you deal with being alone? Are you still sane after it all? (ok, maybe that is exadurating a bit)...........Discuss

Well when I was married my husband traveled..he went all over the US for weeks at a time..and It drove me nuts..I cant even imagine what you are going through but I was lonely for a while..He missed our first anniversary too. Its rough but you always find yourself loving him even more when he returns. Where theres love theres a way ^_~

Yes I admit this must be very difficult. If you like, Terin and I have been in the AF for over 3 years and will answer anything we can or help out in anyway.

My brother has been in iraq for 5 months now and isnt due to return till december. It's not quite the same as a husband but I'm sure I can grasp what you're feeling. I think what is probably most important is to let him know you're thinking of him. My brother really appreciates mail and care packages. Emails are great too if they have that sort of connection but snail mail is in a way more comforting. At least to my brother^.^

I also have a coupld who are friend of the family. During the first five years of their being together he was constantly away for the army. They are having their first child soon...and they are still really happy and in love.

I don't know if any of this helps but..well... there you go^.^

I talk to my sis online while she's in Iraq but shes home on leave yay! she was in Korea for 7 or 8 months then went strait over to Iraq. But they should get some online privalges even if for very brief times im able to talk to her at very odd and random times as they are i think its 8hrs ahead.

Erm, I've kind of always been alone, so I didn't have to deal with loved ones who were far away. To those who actually remember, I joined PO when I was overseas. As far as ways to cope, I'd suggest taking up a hobby so you're not worrying about Fox. I know that may sound kind of cruel, but bear in mind I'm not saying forget about him, of course Wink

Just find something interesting so you aren't WORRYING about him Wink

Aradia's long time friend is in Iraq right now, we get calls form him from time to time, but she really misses him. I never joined the service and nor do intend to, so I hope I dont have to put her through anything like that. Its hard jsut being away for a week or something - much less that gigantic time span. Hope he gets back soons.

My dad was a military guy, so, though he's not my husband (obviously) I still experienced exactly the same thing, as well as the whole moving every couple of years. Because I'm a shy person by nature (shuttup, it's true) I had tremendous difficulty making new friends and that sort of thing.

Therefore, I will -never- ever become involved with a military guy. Much as I love 'em, as they're probably some of the most respectful males I've met, I couldn't deal with a relationship that's long distance half the time, and moving around the other half.
