At least someone stands up for what he believes in. Heck, I don't worship the first American white settlers for slaughtering the Native Americans and taking all their land. It was wrong of them. Granted I cannot change it, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Of course, English Americans weren't exactly nice to a lot of races. They looked upon the Irish Americans with hate and would show terrible discrimination toward them when it came to jobs, houses, etc. African Americans, well we all know what happened there. Then again, it's not just the English and English Americans who did bad things. Every culture, at one point in time or another, can rightly claim wrong doing by another culture. Everyone had something bad happen, so it's not like anyone is different, but no one should look up to someone who killed thousands of people who were not threatening anyone. I mean, if someone attacks your country, there is going to be war and war means death. That's bad enough, but if you look up to a war hero who defended your country, fine. Just don't look up to someone who picked fights. Sad

I don't have any grudges against anybody today because of what's happened in the past. I mean yea it sucks those things happened, but that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying basically that we let the past rule us too much. We should live in today not yesterday. Tommorrow will be better than today but only if we work towards making that a reality. I think Pride is stupid. We're all people. Where we come from, our origins, ancestory is all secondary to that.

I agree, Ultra. No one is in any worse or better shape, as far as their ancestors go. And even if they were, they didn't do it and it didn't happen to them. It was in the past. My point, though, was to not look up to people who did bad things. That's just going to create more problems.

Cromwell also got his head chopped off and stuck on a pike outside Whitehall Palace, and King Charles left it there for....at least 20 years, I'm not sure how long.

most famous people in history can be classed as scum, depends which siode of the fence you sit on (aside from hitler, nearly everyone in the world sees him as scum now, even his own family refuse to reproduce just in case)

Face it. Cromwell conquering Ireland caused nothing but trouble for all involved parties.
