I wasn't about to read through the other 10 pages of this thread. But I was wondering if any of you others knew that there was supposed to be a VO of Qui-Gon talking to Yoda, explaining how he was able to become one with the force, and gain immortality. Yoda admits that he never really gave Qui-Gon credit for being as great a jedi as he was, and agrees to become his apprentice.

I really wanted them to explain that whole thing.
It was quite disappointing that they didn't
Maybe the DVD will have like extended material like LOTR |

It will. Shammy is right. There is a whole scene that takes place after Yoda fails in his battle against Palaptine that picks up where Yoda's robe falls onto a pole. This is where Qui Gon Jin was supposed to show himself in Force-Ghost form to Yoda, explaining that just because a jedi dies that the jedi is not gone. Yoda then bows to Qui Gon and asks to be trained in how to achieve this feat for he knows that it will be the only way to keep himself around long enough to help topple the empire.
Secondly. Yes the Dark Side can heal. Vader had been meditating to use that power to live without his breathmask as was shown in SotE. Keep in mind however that Sith power is based on subversion of the natural flow of the Force. The candle burns twice as bright but for half the time. This is why Palpatine makes use of the cloning technology to begin manufacturing clones of himself that he body jumps into. Though with each time he does this the clone body lasts a shorter amount of time. This was seen in Dark Empire and Dark Empire II.
Third, it is worth bringing up a big spoiler that comes from the NEW JEDI ORDER series of books that brings a revelation about the Force revealed by a old jedi named Vergere who actually knew Anakin and all the other major players. Be advised that I'll be making room for you to skip by this if you want.

The truth about the Force is that there is actually no real "dark side" to the force that exists. There is not some "dark side" out there trying to corrupt jedi. The Force is a tool. A light jedi could make use of the exact same abilities as a dark jedi because to the Force, there is no distinction between dark and light. What is termed the dark side is really just the effects of an individuals own selfish emotions on how that individual manipulates the Force. |
