Sometimes anime fans really make me mad.

The kid just needs to find others that share his interest. If he found somebody else his age that likes Pokemon, he'd be less likely to worry about what other people think. Heck, when I first got into anime, I was the only one. A lot of people told me it was stupid and I was being a little baby (I was about 12 at the time) so I just stopped mentioning it and made my own personal hobby. As time got when on though, I met other kids who liked anime. Now, I don't care what anybody thinks. Heck, I've made friends who hate anime in all shapes and forms sit through an episode of Inuyasha, I watched Samurai X: Directors Cut with my girlfriend at the time, and I even watched the first 5 episodes of Cowboy Bebop with my dad. Basically, all the kid needs is other kids, so don't be so hard on him.
