A real dynasty

I'm here today to announce the crowning of the newest NBA champions...the San Antonio Spurs! Lay eyes on the first real dynasty in the league in the last decade. Unlike the Lakers and Bulls, who were built around the same two-three core players, the Spurs have reeled in three championships in the last seven years with teams that have performed with an underlying concept (solid play and defense) instead of superstar status and biased refereeing. While Tim Duncan has been on all three squads, the first one was primarily David Robinson's team. D Rob brought up Tim Dawg as the pillar but players like Avery Johnson, Malik Rose, Sean Elliot, and others gave way to Manu Ginobili and others. Also adding unselfish vets like Robert Horry, who always seems to be in position to win a championship, to the mix has proven to be a successful recipe. Chicago was MJ, Pip, and the refs...LA was Kobe, Shaq, and more refs...but the Spurs have taken it back to the Boston/LA days where basketball games were won with basketball instead of marketing schemes.

All hail the new true dynasty.

well... I don't like Basketball much, but yay for Shaq not winning. Since he is an arogant ass that CAN'T actually shoot the ball.

As someone on the other end of the Finals, I'd be careful about swinging that "biased refereeing" claim about, because some of our fans will lay it squarely on the Spurs. But that said, three in seven years is nice, but not dynastic. Three in five I might agree to.
