Very good review on the Athlon FX57 processor, which will probibly be my next one whenever I upgrade. If you look at all the bench marks and everything its not exactly a "multimedia" processor like all those fance new dual core ones, but it pretty much rocks at anything 32bit single threaded, Later in the review is a compairisons of the XP 64 4000+ and the FX57 on 7800GTX SLI setups its amazing how much the processor has become the bottle-neck again like the old skool Voodoo 2 days.

Hmmm well that is an interesting doc on AMD processors. The question is.. why would they continue to design the processor/motherboard set around the 86 anyway. What I have noticed is that with my chip personally the Pentium 4 3.0ghz 775 is that It doesn't contain any pins to plug something into. It has crazy plates that it sits on. Now as this is a major change to things it does out perform the same chip on the other platform... 478. The only difference is the way the chip sits on the board.

I think that if AMD would come up with a better way to connect the processor to the board there would be a much better response.

Its like putting a brand new roof on an old broke down house. No matter what you do to the roof. The house is still broke.

I didn't think the socket change had anything to do with speed just space taken up by the socket.

I found this

In fact I find that the 775 socket has a estimated insertion life of 20.

Socket-775, twenty insertions and counting

I bet the pins are not covered by any mobo warranty. I think it is a great idea that needs some refining.

they did, they went to the 939 pin, which is even more fficent than the 940 pin. also look at the HUUUGE speed difference in memory access between AMD and intel, where AMD is twice as fast.

But also if you look at the 2.4ghz dual core AMD, it smashes the dual core 3.73ghz Pentium chip I think in everthing but one test.
