That's because thet's as far as the similarities went. Well, except that Zaphoid Beeblebox had two heads... but they managed to fuck that up too.
I absolutely hated this movie, as someone who has been a fan of the series for years now. I was super-pumped the day I went to see the movie, on opening day, hoping that the movie would be half as good as the books. (I had not read any of the reviews... I think I was too scared.)
Uppon leaving the thearter, I was supper-pissed, stomping out and muttering increadibly long strings of obsenities under my breath. I was furrious for the rest of the night... and for a few days to follow. (Especially if someone mentioned the movie... God help them if I heard them say that it was really good!)
To me it seemed like some half-retarded Hollywood producer had read the first 50 pages, and then said "Wow, This is great! Fuck the rest of the book though... I've got a better idea!" and then wrote the piece of shit I wasted my money on. Why dont they just go and take a big long piss on Douglas Adams grave?
The topper? the thing that blew my mind right the hell out of my head and splattered it all over the wall?! At the end credits, when it said "For Douglas", people stood up out of their seats and gave this piece of shit a standing ovation!!! What the @#$%?!?!

Erm, but didn't Douglas Adams help write the movie script before he died? He was a man that was up and down all his life, and he tended to show this in the books, right? After all, apparently he thought of the idea while lying drunk on his back ^^; The radio show was slightly different to the books, as was the tv programme, and Douglas Adams intended the film to follow that trend. |

Yeah it's also become common to expect that most book based movies won't follow the original word for word. I find if you go to a movie like that with no expectations you can enjoy it better. Lord knows I don't wanna go to a movie only to feel rotten about it afterwards. |

Erm - there were towels in the movie O_O
And wasn't the Radio show before the books (making this a movie based on a radio show??)? Well - personally, you are doomed if you go into a movie theater expecting a work of perfection, or clone. Take it for what it is and enjoy it (unless it was truely dreadful like Alien VS Predator *hisses*). I personally, really enjoyed it ^_^ |
