New compy. All is well right?
Pfft no. Go to pick up the pieces, and the dvd rom and UPS are delayed a few days. Oops.
Take home remaining pieces. 4 hours of construction with a case that makes putting devices in absolute hell, a case that rather than suing screws for pci devices instead pushes down on the end with a metal plate to keep it secure, a case with a nonfunctional open floppy drive button, a case that comes with the wrong sized screws. At least the front USB ports were quick and easy to install.
So I finally get this bastard assembled:
AMD 3200+ (2.0ghz)
Asus A8V Deluxe mobo
1 gig PC3200 dual channel DDR ram
Radeon 9600xt
Western Digital 160 gig IDE hdd
CDRW
soon to be obtained DVDRW
500w power supply
soon to be obtained UPS
built in 5.1 channel sound
So I hook up the monitor, keyboard, and mouse and VAVAVOOM she boots!
Set the boot order in the BIOS, etc etc etc, and go to set partitions. Space available: 130gb.
Excuse me? 130 gigs? Package says 160.. so whatever, to play I set up a 40 gig and 90 gig partition. Install Windows XP on the parition. Check the system stats. Processor 1.5ghz? Argh. HD space: 130 gig. ARGH.
So I tried to use a burned copy of windows and now i can't update since the cd key is invlaid (why didn't they tell me this when i went to install? jesus). So whatever. Planning to buy a legit copy soon. But this other stuff is driving me insane ._, help? |

I had the same hard drive problem. Here's the solution:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305098/EN-US/
Basically, all you need to do is add a key in the Windows registry. I suggest you make your Windows partition but do NOT assign the rest of the drive yet. Once you set the registry key, you'll be able to get all the space you needed. |

Solved the processor problem by upgrading the mobo's bios. Still working on the hdd problem >.< |
