Thompson is retarded. So is this kid. You don't go around sending death threats to people to make a point; I don't think this kid was mature enough to understand that, and now Thompson is using him as an example as "what gamers are like." Fan-flippin' tastic. Way to go, kid.
In any case, I am still endlessly humored by the way he refers to himself in third person. X)! |

Okay, that makes two idiots. The Kid, for proving Jack Thompson's point, or attempting to, and Jack Thompson, for thinking that this kid proves his point!
The gaming industry doesn't want to kill him. Some GAMERS want to kill him, but that's because he's an idiot. Most gamers WON'T kill him, because they're smarter than he gives them credit. At least, I think they are... |

They are. But for Thompson, all he needs is one to believe we're all like that. He's been generalizing since the beginning. And he'll keep doing it until someone finally says, "Look. Enough is enough. Stop being a moron and go back to the cave you crawled out of." |

Yay... he's at it again... This time... The Florida Bar.. AGAIN!
Jack Thompson... Dumb ass.

Antigame activist lawyer sues state's legal regulatory association, saying they conspired against his rights as a citizen.
Jack Thompson is in court again after being tossed off an Alabama civil-court case against game-industry players, including the makers of Grand Theft Auto, but this time he's representing himself. Earlier this week, Thompson filed suit against the Florida Bar, of which he is a member, claiming the regulatory association has been conspiring against his rights as a citizen.
The North Country Gazette Web site is reporting that Thompson believes the Bar has been collaborating with opposing lawyers in his lawsuits over Grand Theft Auto and Howard Stern, encouraging them to file Strategic Litigation Against Public Participation (SLAPP) complaints against him for over a year and a half. In common legal lingo, a SLAPP complaint is a lawsuit that creates a chilling effect on free speech--it is intended solely to discourage a party from expressing a certain point of view by intimidation and the burden of legal costs associated with defending oneself against the complaint.
This is not the first time Thompson has sued the Florida Bar. He sued the group under the Civil Rights Act in 1990, but his complaint was dismissed with prejudice the next year. The case dragged into 1993 as the Florida Bar attempted to have a judge impose sanctions on Thompson, but their efforts fell short. The North Country Gazette reports that Thompson's complaint references his history with the Bar.
"In the early 1990s, for example, The Florida Bar, in league with pornographers and their attorneys, as well as with an operative of the American Civil Liberties Union, persuaded the Florida Supreme Court, ex parte, to enter an order mandating that Thompson must submit, without protest, to psychiatric and psychological tests administered by health care providers chosen by The Bar because of 'Thompson's alleged obsession against pornography which is so severe that he is disabled by that obsession and thus unfit to practice law,'" his complaint reads. "'Brain damage' was also alleged...The Bar's experts found that Thompson was suffering neither from brain damage nor from any mental illness, and that he was in fact simply pursuing his activist Christian faith in the public and legal arenas."
Thompson's complaint then says the Bar was made to pay him monetary damages as a result of the charges.

Acting on advice of Jack Thompson, sheriff's deputies search home of suspected Louisiana killer and confiscate M-rated games.

Last week, sheriff's deputies conducting an investigation into the murder of a 55-year-old Louisiana man seized a number of games rated M for Mature from the home of a 16-year-old suspect, according to a report in the Baton Rouge paper The Advocate. The action was taken at the suggestion of controversial Florida attorney Jack Thompson.
Thompson told The Advocate that he suggested the sheriffs look for violent games in the youth's house because he felt the killings mirrored a scenario from Grand Theft Auto. The original reports indicated that the victim was beaten to death and shot in the face by the 16-year-old and a 17-year-old accomplice.
"Nobody shoots anybody in the face unless you're a hit man or a video gamer," Thompson told the paper.
While the police did seize the games, it's unclear exactly what role they will play in the investigation. West Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Captain Spence Dilworth told the paper, "I think it goes beyond video games, but who's to say?" |
