I never thought that doing the right thing could sting so much. I mean the cold was nothing next to having your whole body screaming at you to take the ofer so willingly given, only the heart was arguing. "Be who she needs you to be, not who she wants you to be". Oh the pain. My only solace is knowing that I am becoming who she needs to have. I hope that she will understand that. Oh to be the "nice guy" sometimes, but it must be done. Every little detail must be dealt with.
An old friend once told me that "the secret to keeping the one you love is to fight for the little things twice as hard as you fight for the heart, but fight for the heart like you'll die tomorrow if it gets away." I now know what he meant and I am going to follow his advice.
and so I drink to myself ( 20% orange jucie 80% vodka) a toast to fighting for the one I love. I hope that one day I can share with her all I was willing to go through for her. |

Don't sacrifice yourself if you don't think the sacrifice will be rewarded and returned. Be who she needs you to be, but make sure you don't stop being yourself. |
