May 2, 2006 - While doing press this past weekend for his forthcoming release Just My Luck, producer Arnold Rifkin, who is partnered with Bruce Willis in the production shingle Cheyenne Enterprises, spoke exclusively with IGN FilmForce about his slate of future projects, including the long anticipated Die Hard 4.0.
So is there anything going on with John McClane's big-screen return? "There is, actually. The most recent attempt, draft is on the table, and if the parties [20th Century Fox and Willis] agree, we have a script."
And what of director John McTiernan, who helmed the first and third installments of the franchise? The rumor mill pegged him as a likely contender to direct the fourth film but his recent legal woes related to the much publicized Anthony Pellicano case has sidelined his film career.
For the record, we asked Rifkin if McTiernan will helm Die Hard 4.0. "Not a chance. I don't say that pejoratively. We're going to find a new, young, exciting [director]. Well, it's kind of tough to get John [now]. He might not be available."
McTiernan recently pled guilty to lying to the Feds and could face time in prison. |

Whoa! This is huge news! I loved the Die Hard series, particularly Die Hard: With a Vengeance. Overall, they're just great action flicks with lots of great one-lines. Such as: (In German accent) "Now I have a machine gun. Ho. Ho. Ho." Or "A hundred million terrorists in the world and I gotta kill one with feet smaller than my sister."
Bruce Willis is so funny.
I can't wait, and I hope that 20th Century Fox jumps on the bandwagon and decides that this is a go. |

The first was the best! You just can not beat Alan Rickman as a villian. "Ok then it's the hard way." Then he blows that guy away. The second and thrid ones were awesome as well but the first one is still the best. However I must say I am fearful about a fourth one because it is about thius time that movies start to go down hill but then again maybe this one will be different. Here's to hope. |
