*nods* ^_^ That's all I meant. I know I wouldn't mind seeing a Gambit either, but the fans of him can be incredibly rabid. I wouldn't want to have to live up to their expectations if I were in charge of casting for the movies, that's for sure. And since the storylines they've been working with haven't required him, I don't see why they'd bother even trying. |

Oh yea I was pretty insulted with the Evolution variation of Gambit.
I'm a HUUUUUUUUUGE Ragin' Cajun fan and as much as I would loved to have seen him, I would have rather that he was done right than just haphazardly thrown into the mix. And I think Shan is right that if they did injustice to the character, they would get crucified. Apparently there's supposed to be stuff after the credits, I'm excited to see that. I'll be going tonight with a big raiding party at midnight |

Ok, I saw it last night. I have mixed feelings. There were some good scenes and some things that made me shift my eyebrow but overall good stuff. Just not -great-. I did like alot more throwbacks to the comic books, I think I just felt that some characters were out of character at times however. Also I felt like there wasn't enough character development for some characters. It seemed like the whole movie was just a setup for the end of the trilogy, which isn't really bad but I would have liked a better stand alone movie. Just my humble opinion of course.
Of course it was still a good movie, I'm just eh it wasn't THAT great. I liked Kitty alot but only because she actually had some development. |

I really liked it. Thought it wrapped it all up nicely. Ultrawolf is right, this is not a stand alone movie (and it relies very heavily on the first two), so I suggest re-watching the first two sometime before seeing it.
There were some things that bothered me though, ei PLOT HOLES. Grrah. Nothing big though. Highlight below if you don't care for spoilers. If someone could explain these things to me, that would be great. X)!
plot holes/SPOILERS wrote: |
1. I didn't catch that one chick's name, but the super-fast one that could sense other mutants and their powers--why didn't she notice Wolverine in the forest?
2. The movie never explained what happened to Scott. Not so much of a plot hole, but it still didn't make any sense.
3. And I can't stop wondering. Did the mutants have to pay for the cure? Was it a free service provided for the government? Because unless it was free, I can't imagine Rogue being able to do it.
4. At the end of the movie, what was that one kid doing at the school (the one that nullified mutant powers)? Are we to assume they found some way to control his abilities?

I liked it overall as well, however, I didn't like the "we're bad mutants and you can tellbecause we wear leather daily and have tattoos" thing.
I really do miss Bryan Singer on this movie. Honestly do.
Your questions about the plot holes are valid Scrum.
Did you stick around for the end thingy? |

1. I believe that was Callisto. The only real explanation I can give is that unless she's looking for someone specific or feels a high class mutant, she wouldn't notice old Wolvy. She's not psychic afterall, although Jean SHOULD have detected the conflict in the forest and her constant indecision bugged me. "I'm just gonna stand here pretty" was pretty much 90% of her role.
2. Well although you didn't ultimately see it, they did say he was dead again and again.
3. I assumed it was a free service considering they could have just punched an officer in the face and got shot with the cure anyway.
4. He deserves someplace safe just as much as any of the mutants I would think. Much like other mutants with extremely dangerous powers, you'd just have to be mindful around mutants who NEED their power to live like Wolverine. With time he Leech could learn to control his powers. I'm not really sure what else they would do with him. |

OH YEAH. The "der, we're badazz cuz we gots tattoos on our faces" gang. I thought it was kind of silly. Especially when, no matter where they were or what time of day it was, they were all wearing basically the same outfit.
What end thingy? o.o (dangits!)
Oh yeah, by the way. I was skeptical about Kelsey Grammar playing Beast at first, but after seeing the movie, I think he made a really good Beast. I was afraid that he would end up playing Kelsey Grammar (like he does in pretty much all of his other roles) but he pulled it off really well. It was a pleasant surprise.
***EDIT***

1. Ah. I was kind of under the impression that she just sensed them. And yeah, Jean's lack of involvement in ANYTHING throughout the story was kind of bothersome. It wasn't like she was struggling with herself, more like she was drugged.
2. Jean kind of implied that he was dead, and Wolverine said "I think she killed Scott!" but it never explained what really happened to him. Yes, we should assume that he's dead, but what the hell did she do with him??
3. LOL. Good point.
4. But er...were I a mutant at that school, I would feel kind of uncomfortable around him. But everybody was all smiles and "hey thar! :B " And it never really explained what happened to him after that, just kind of implied that he joined the school. Actually, the first thought I had was that they had given him the cure and he was going to a normal school, then I realized that it was the mutant school. Or at least, I think it was o.o

I'm generally happy with it. I liked how they did my Angel. I liked how they did Kitty, and the bits we saw of Colossus.
I was stunned by the random appearance of Arclight. Such an obscure character...made me happy.
I'm a little miffed about some things, though. Mostly, the poor cohesion of the two different plotlines...more in white so that I don't accidentally offend anyone by spoiling something.
spoilers wrote: | It was just poorly pulled off. The Phoenix saga was just Jean Going Crazy and Very Powerful And Yet Doing Very Little Of Any Use In The End.
I'm not a comic expert, but some of the characters seemed -way- off to me.
Like, Multiple Man as a Bank Robber and then Magneto stooge? I'm pretty sure I remember him as an adorable puppy-like good guy.
And I don't remember what leech's powers were (though, what he has here sounds about right) but, wasn't he little and green and funky looking? Or was that his friend?
Also, the Psylocke chick was not Psylocke by any stretch of the imagination. And due to the fact that she was never mentioned as being Psylocke (I just recognized her from the pictures I saw beforehand of the actress cast as her, and from knowing that she was supposed to be in the movie and was the only chick with purple hair that showed up) I think they'll probably play that off later as "that wasn't really Psylocke, here's the -real- thing" especially given that she seemed to somehow appear out of nowhere in a highly lit room, which is definitely not something I can imagine Psylocke ever being capable of in any way. I mean, shadow-walking later on, but there weren't any shadows to walk in...
Also, I don't think Scott is really dead. He's too much of a lead character for them to really kill him off when there are eventually going to be more movies. She -said- she killed him, but we never saw a body. And this is Marvel-- if there's no body, they're almost certainly still alive. Hell, if there -is- a body, they're probably still alive.
Also, wtf was with Kitty/Bobby?
Callisto, mm? I saw a girl with an eyepatch, so I figured that was her, but, I don't know. I'll have to have a look through Cerbra's files to find a good candidate for who in the world that was. xD
|
I loved the inclusion of Moira as well, even if just as a cameo mostly. And Beast was amazingly perfect, as was my Angel.
I badly badly badly want to see Apocalypse after this. Really. And they're leading into it a lot, what with introducing Angel and stuff.... |
