I think the story there involves his Black Belt test ordeal, which was chronicled here on PO and basically consists of them NOT TELLING HIM he'd have to do all the physical requirements there at the test as well, and them not being given enough time to recover from one of the requirements before they had to do another. So, he didn't get it because he didn't quite make the goals on both the situps and the pushups.
