I've gone a bit mecha mad as far as my gamings concerned, playing through all 3 Z.O.E games (1, 2nd Runner and Fist of Mars on GBA), Armored Core Ninebreaker and Another Age, plus Atari's Transformers and I'm trying to find my copy of Omega Boost, but I was wondering, does anyone know where I can find a good tutorial on how to draw various types of mecha as everytime I've tried its just looked wrong. |

Not sure about online tutorials, but if you have a comic shop near by I would suggest looking through their "How to Draw Manga" series. You can by the collection books for around 20-35 bucks or grab single shots for around 2-3 bucks. They did alot of issues about drawing giant robo, mecha, transformable mecha etc etc.
Like so (good price too)

I had a quick blast earlier so I can show whoever would like to give me some advice the level I'm at, I wasn't going to add any colour, but the scanner was taking forever to reinstall and I got bored:

Well, you definatly have a good idea on plating. Mechs.. ai, I am not really the best person to get advice from, since I do have a bit of trouble with them myself. They end up looking a little organic when I draw them Heehee! But what I do suggest is looking at mechanical working parts for machienes, cars.... even plated armour like Knights or Samurai - you'll see a lot of influences that can be used : D Anything with armour plating is handy to study.... even insects or... armaddilos |
