Thank You

I was saving this for my four year anniversary of Joining PO (mark your calendars for Mod's Day everyone!) but somehow after my last post, my 6000th seemed like the right time to wax poetical about what PO has meant to me.

It was a Monday, in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, at 5:18pm on October 21 2002 that I made a fateful mouse click that brought me into this wonderful world of Miniopia, and into the lives of people who I can't imagine being without anymore. Through four tumultuous years of my life, that have taken me all across the northern quarter of the US, there has been one constant in my life.

One place where I could come and find solace when I needed it, one place that would always welcome me back with open arms and squeals of affection. I was loved and I loved back. I lost some people, but what I gained was greater than anything you could measure.

I found people I'd never have met any other way all across the country, in Atlanta, in Portland, in Seattle...In other countries: Malaysia, UK, Canada. All who entered my life through a simple mouse click made by a bored lonely nineteen year-old waiting for football practice to begin.

I really cannot express how much all of you have meant to me, not in words at least, or at least in words that would be describable. That's why I give the hugs I do, at least I can channel my emotional exuberance at being with any and all of you into some physical action. But still, it isn't enough. So I wish to share three words with all of you that you might not understand, and if you do, then you know just how much you truly do mean to me.

I kin ye.

I kin ye all. Every one of you. All of you who have come to PO and helped to make it my home, my sacred place. Maybe you won't fully get where I am coming from, and that is fine, just know that out there you've got someone who wants to help you be happy and healthy. To have the life you've proven you deserve to have.

Modbless each one of, I cannot thank you enough in a lifetime for what you've given me.

Wow, four years have we we really been here that long? It didn't even strike me!

Although we haven't communicated THAT much, which is odd considering how long we've both been here, I do feel I sort of know you in a odd way.

So, Thank you for joining this community, I'm sure Doot/Shino/Someone will come along and say thank you to everyone but anyways......

Heres to 4 years of Rev, and heres to 4 more, who knows, if we make it to 10, I might just have the funds to actually meet you all (you never know, anything can happen)

Hey! There is something to this Mod Day, almost to the day 2 years later I joined, Oct 20! I can't imagen PO with out you Rev, I don't think it would be the same at all!

I've spent my whole life trying to run from everything that made me sad. For the most part I had a very unhappy childhood. I grew up lonely and I felt like an outsider everywhere; on the playground, at school and even at home. I was a miserable kid and all I could focus on was that self loathing and depression.

I was sixteen years old when I signed up on PO. I remember it was the Fourth of July, and I was spending it alone on the computer. I''ve never been a believer in fate, I think Fate is what you make it. But thinking about that day makes me wonder sometimes. What I found here was more than just a community of friends. What I found were people who didn't care about the way I looked or that I was an excitable young nerdling. What I found was a family.

I'm almost twenty years old now and I'm still not completely grown up but I have a much happier life than I had those years ago. I now know what it's like to have people care about you and what you do with your life. I know what's it like to have friends who aren't just concerned with using you to elevate themselves. I know what it's like to be really and truely happy. And while I'm not saying that it's been nothing but rainbows and lollipops, It's been wonderful to have that shoulder to lean on when I need it the most. I'm still learning who I really am and my place in this world but I don't know where I would be without all of you.

Yes it has been 4 years. We celebrated our 4 year anniversery at AWA this year. And next year... is the big 5!

Might I add that, although I'm a bit of a forum whore (PO, PSOtakus, Gamepulse, Now Loading, Revolution Magazine, GamesTM at the moment, many others have RivaOni on their membership list) none of them have been like PO, well maybe the original PSOtakus, but that was a loooooong time ago.

hey, if it weren't for you, big guy, Ming would have never known, and if he wouldn't have known, then i wouldn't be 50 posts shy of hitting 7000 posts.

But i'll save the sappy stuff for that post.

I have the fortunate ability to know you not only on PO, but in real life. You're a good guy, and having you here is always a great thing. I don't know what this site would be like without you, senor. I know that you're a cog that we all love and enjoy to have around.

Good. I'm glad you did this. I'm not sure what it is, or if the mind is even able to grasp it...but it's here. That feeling. This isn't just a place, it's an entity all of itself in which people can come to and find comfort, solace, and something greater, more communal, than love. It has its own spirit, own home, and own (fan)people. We all have contributed, large and small, to the evolution and formation of this being. And I do believe the PO kins you, dear.
