"- GamesIndustry.biz reported that certain PS3 launch titles are already approaching 25GB, the capacity of a single layer BluRay disc. Sony plans to offer 50GB BluRay media in 2007.

Amazing that maybe 5 games for the PS2 needed dual layer DVDs but suddenly you have launch titles that require a full Bluray disc. I can imagine the 15 gig dummy files now.

- Hori announced they will release a USB Multi Card Reader/Writer for PlayStation 3 in Japan on November 11, 2006, for 2280 yen. The device can read and write over 15 different kinds of memory cards such as Memory Stick Pro DUO, SD card, and CF/MMC cards."

Now this is something worth touting. Assuming it's not $200 AND that it comes out here (maybe thru one of our local third parties), I'd be interested in this.

Yes, that's a BluRay burner, Sony has given the green light for companies (this is the Pioneer BDR-101A model) to manufacture and sell them (they're already selling their own models also). $1000 gets you not only a BluRay player but the ability to pirate your own PS3 games.

This means
1) BluRay players need not be $1000 as a burner costs the same...
and
2) Sony is simply begging pirates to copy their software. This could be the first time firmware updates are available the same day as the console launch.

And before you say "But you still have to have the discs..."

hmm, fuill on 25gb games? not even PC games have reached that stage! why am I thinking interactive movies or something? either that or they really are not utilising the space properly

Yes the burner will be $1000, how much less do you really think the player is? Maybe at the very least $500. Still getting it for cheap witht he PS3.
