Boo! What scares you?

I don't think this has been done before...I searched a bit, but if someone finds a thread like that, feel free to of course close this and bump that or whatever. What terrifies you? Phobias or otherwise.

Personally, there are quite a few things that I'm afraid of.

Snakes have terrified me since I was small. My dad could have been killed when a couple of black cobras spat on him when we lived in Singapore, and I've been terrified of snakes ever since.

Boats also make me nervous. Well, really, it's not the boat. It's the fact that the boat could possibly (in my mind, and due to some Hollywood influence) pull me down under if it sank. When I was little, I used to be afraid of having the water over my head (hence why my parents had trouble with me in my swimming lessons), and while I've mostly gotten over that, boats seem like a physical manifestation of that fear. I also can't stand to stick my face under running water, 'cause I feel like I'm drowning. It's very strange.

...oh, and to those of you who have that "face your fear and you'll get over it" mentality-- I can assure you that it has -not- worked for either of those fears. I've held snakes and remained perfectly calm on the outside while terrified inside. I've put my face (not my head, my face, that's what bothers me.) under the shower head and panicked. I can -control- my fears, but I'm still terrified.

I hate flying. I hate taking off, the veiw is allright, but the sounds the engine makes are scary. I only enjoy landing because I know Ill be on the ground soon. I hate flying.

I also hate scary movies. Especially Japanese ones.

i'm scared of strangers... specifically them being in my space or out of my line of sight. i had to leave a movie theatre before because these big people were standing (out in the hallway) under one of the few lights and were very very very near me and i had a panic/anxiety attack. also, obese people and people with actual severe retardations (mental or physical). and i feel really really really guilty about those Embarassed

Falling from heights (and I mean any) I was kinda traumatized in Kindergarten. I tend to get a kind of vertigo/dizziness going down flights of stairs now too.
