70) Onimusha 3
An amazing game that spawned from an amazing prequel set, this game took some major funness from Onimusha 1 and 2, and made it more flexible, including new 10-point attacks, new styles of the big-three weapons...and it had JEAN RENO!!!!!! HOW FRIGGEN COOL IS THAT?!?!?!?
Anywho...time travel, undead samurai-soldier thingies, and just a bit of mayhem, as well as a friggen cool opening movie. I wubs teh gameage.
Ph34r teh Ogre Warriors!

OMG! It was the game that started it all...how can it not be up here by now...or maybe we should just put it where it belongs.

68. Guitar Hero - Playstation 2
You can't deny that this is one of the most fun and innovative designs EVER. To me, Guitar Hero took what DDR built, and just upped the coolness to the next level. What other game makes you ACTUALLY feel like a rock star when you play it? It might be very new as compared to the other games on this list, but I think it's an incredibly important game, and has the workings of an instant classic. |

Easily one of my top 3 favorite RPGs of all time. The game was massive, it was a challenge, and there were only one or two points in the game that I ever had to grind levels. The item creation system was phenominal, from using different rare minerals to create a sword to forging the deed to an Inn so you could stay there for free forever. Anyway, I LOVE this RPG, and I'm sure those who've playede it agree.

Definately a great game. The begining was mean though. Starts you off with a badass phaser weapon and then takes it away not 20 minutes later, never to return again. |

Okami - Playstation 2
Published by: CAPCOM
Developed by: Clover Studio
An adventure game from the view point of Ama Terasu, a deity in the body of a wolf, who's mission is to restore the vitality and goodness that has been sapped from the world by the appearance of an evil spirit released from it's 100 year slumber.
The pen, or in this case, the brush is mightier than the sword. In this game, your main weapon will not be the steel that you carry but rather how much ink you have to work with. Collecting brush techniques from fellow deities, you literally paint out your abilities. |

Hmmm dont have a screengrab, but I'll go ahead and throw this down 66) Katamari Damacy- As Zero says, this game is an acid trip created by a programmer ON an acid trip. Just plain fun, too weird to try and explain to people. But once they try it, they will be hooked. |

65) Mutant League Hockey
This gem from EA is awesome. It was like hockey in the Thunderdome. MLH let you kill the other players and even the ref when you didn't like his calls. Plus the arenas were strewn with traps and spikes. Also one of the only game I know where you can win a game because there aren't enough players left alive. Plus it had the spoof of my hometown team, The St. Mucus Ooze. How could I not love it.
Although Mutant League Football came out first, I just think that Hockey was when it shined. And who knows when Mutants League Basketball or Soccer will come out. Plus two gaming magazines that I know of (Gamepro and EGM) said that this was one franchise that needed to be redone. Anyways, get out there and take on the SlayCity Slayers and grind K.T. to a pulp. |

Perfect, I got the 64 spot. Perfect for showing off this masterpeice...
64) Pilotwings 64
This game was desinged soley to show off the playing power of the N64 and let players roam in a fully 3D enviroment. The perfect balance of easy and hard was met in this game like in so many of the early three dimentional games. There were missions where you would be close to your goal, far surpass it, get just shy, but the whole time it was your skill and ability that you were playing against.
In PW64, there were no enemies, no bad guys (the one godzilla doesnt count), no power ups, no lives, and no goal but you, some targets, a place to land and a time limit. It really made you challenege yourself in a way few games do. Also the way it looked at 3D movment was fun, from hang-gliding over Holiday Island to useing rabbit feet to hop across the united states.
Deserving of special mention is the music, which highlights this game from mission to mission. I spent a lot of time just flying around in this game just listening to the music, cruising on a thermal and enjoying the view.
Play. Pilotwings. 64.

63) Tunnel Runner
Maybe the first "first person shooter" but without the shooting. A crazy hectic game of maze chasing. Imagine being Pacman but having no power pills. The claim was that the monsters track you by smell and sound. Whether that was just marketing hype of not isn't important but it will make your heart beat to be backed in at the end of a corridor not moving while you watch the monsters run back and forth past the entrance. Between the trippy colors (each floor tile is a different color, It helps when the mazes are all blacked out) and the sounds (the monsters trademark beeps get louder or softer depending on their distance to you...and they each have a different sound) this may have been a precursor to vidgames and shrroms. Just kidding.
This game caused me to be late to many classes. One of the few games that I used to routinely turn over (it will crash after level 255 regardless of score) or even care to. It makes me feel good to have my Atari 2600 still up and running. It's impossible to find now but it is still in my top 10 games of all time.[/img] |
