I'm surprised there isn't already a topic for this. At any rate, who saw Borat? Seriously, this was an extremely funny movie. Between this and Jackass 2 a few weeks ago, I don't think I've laughed so much in a movie theater. |

You and me both Ming. It's so wrong in so many parts but hilrious in all of them.
The thing I love the most about it is how everyone is so up in arms about it. If they were really tuned in to the humor of it all they would understand that overall it's not Sacha Baron Cohen making fun of Kazakhstan, rather preying upon the uneducated masses of our country. It's the folks who buy into the idea that he is a "helpless foreigner" that are getting jabbed at.

It's funny you mention that. I forgot to mention in my previous post, but a few people actually got up and left the theater about halfway through the movie. My only assumption was that they were just that offended at it all, but that actually made the movie THAT much funnier. If it has the power to get people to leave, it HAS to be good. |

It was a riot to say the least.
It's the product of a brilliant mind, and while it may seem mindless at times it can be argued that it's really a nice commentary on the way we see and treat people from foreign countries. It's so over the top and hilarious, in no small part because of how people blindly buy into the character "Borat". -That- is funny.
And for the record my favorite scene was the Bed and Breakfast. |

Were all of the interactions he had with people throughout the movie real, or were they scripted? I understand that on the show they're real, but this is a much bigger scale. |

Myself and Doots male counterpart are under the assumption that if the camera was crappy or he had a visible mike it was real.
If the camera was really good footage then it was fake. |

It might be scripted or it might be in the fashion of Andy Kofmans old "happenings" where he does the bit, and then lets everyone else in on it. It's a cool concept either way, and I'm gonna go see it. |

Not seen the film, but borat (and Ali G for that matter, as he came first from Sacha Baron Cohen) were part of the discussion and messing around and jokes among the majority of people before I left school in 2000.
I don't know how new this is to you guys, but this is rpetty much what British humour is nowdays. |
